I just recently got a set of Overkill solid front mounts and I tried to install them but couldn't get the top nuts on as there was not enough thread exposed. I have sent some pics to Mark to see if the pieces are machined correct but he is really busy so thought i would post on here incase someone had all the answers. I have been searching online trying to find pics of the top of the strut shaft for comparison to mine. I have monroe sensa-tracs and i think that perhaps they do not have as much tread as other brands. If anyone has pics of their front struts or possibly someone has a set not installed that they could measure from the top of the thread to the lip where the strut plate sits that would be great. On my monroes there is about 1 inch from the lip to the top of the threads. I am hoping that someone who has tokicos or KYB or some other brand can check this and see if the problem is in fact my struts.
Thanks in advance.
Gary
You should fill out your profile, bro. Believe it or not, alot of people look at this FIRST to see what you're running, and which year model you're running it on. Trust me, filling out your profile will help you in the long run. I looked at it to see if I could use it to help me help you... but it's far from complete.
Profile updated. If anyone has pics of their struts pre install that show the top threads that would be most helpful.
Thanks, after looking at those pics I am thinking I may have the wrong adaptors. Hopefully I hear back from mark and get his opinion.
Gary, whats the issue with yours? I see that you ordered for a stock set-up. Can you shoot some pics up so that I can see what the problem is? Also what year are your isolator housings? The adapters might looks a little different but dont be alarmed by that, sometimes I change the design a little but the function is still the same.

Mark, I will email you pictures again. The problem is that when the adaptor and mount plate are installed on the strut there is very little thread exposed. Not enough to even get a nut to hold. I thought perhaps the issue was my struts and maybe they are different but after looking at the link posted above I see they are the same. However, the aluminum adaptor seems to have a diiferent design. Mine compared to those in the link above have a shorter mid section and a taller top. This ends up covering too much of the top of the strut.
I had this same problem way back about two years ago. Mark helped me out, but i ended up running the set as follows, with no detrimental effects in ~2years and 50k miles of use: (from top to bottom)
OEM top mount with spherical bearing
95-99 complete bearing assembly/housing
95-99 spring seat (lower insulator)
spring
strut
Mark warned me that this may lead to too much stress on the strut, but the spherical bearing seems to have enough axial play to take care of that. So the difference is i didn't even use the bottom part of the OEM mount kit, what i think you are referring to as the adapter. I have koni yellows BTW, and using the adapter there was NO way i was getting the top nut on.
Mark,
I have emailed a few more pics for comparison between my mounts and the mounts show in the link above.
Thanks,
Gary
p.s.
I would rather fix this problem using my current setup (2003 upper strut isolators) as i don't really want to go out and buy more pieces that i don't think i should have to.
