Eihbach front sway bar: Need hardware measurement HELP
Monday, December 06, 2010 5:39 PM
I bought a Eibach front bar used, with no hardware. I'd like to get hardware from Energy Suspension, but I need to know some measurements for the D bushing clamps and the center sleeves on the endlinks, as Energy carries several different sizes, and no specific kit for 3rd gen J-bodies (at least not that I saw in their catalog).

First, for the strap that holds the D-bushing to the subframe, I need the measurement from bolt hole to bolt hole:

Second, I need the length of the metal sleeve that centers between the bushings on the endlinks:

Also, does the Eibach kit come with greasable or non greaseable d-bushings, and if not, do you think it's worth the extra few bucks for greasable bushings or do those running the kit not really notice any noise from them?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Thanks.

I found those bushings before, but I was leaning towards the Energy Susp since they come with the metal straps as well, the Moog looks like it's just the bushing (I'm assuming the OD of the moog bushing is larger than stock and therefore needs a larger mounting strap.

Do you know off hand, do the after market sway bars sit at the same height in relation to the control arms as do the stock bars? In other words, I assume that moog endlink kit is meant for the stock bar, do they both use the same length center sleeve on the endlink?

I actually used the endlinks from energy. I got a set that had a longer sleeve in the middle and cut it down to the stock ones length. I think they were a universal set for a honda or something along those lines. Im only running the stock front sway bar on my setup so im not sure on the D bushings. Iv heard your sopose to keep the swaybar a level as possible with the ground so depending on how low you are you may want to check how much your gonna need as far as that center sleeve goes. Maybe someone can conferm this for us.

Yeah, I've heard that too, about keeping the front bar close to level with the ground, though I'm not sure either on its validity. If that is the case, I'll get the ES set with the longer sleeves and cut them down as needed, I'm dropped 2" right now, but plan on going a bit lower so that'll surely change the angle from where it sits now.

k, i searched through quite a few thread's and i'm pretty sure i have the stock 24mm front sway bar but could someone confirm this for me? i'd also like to know if everyone think's energy suspension would be the best place to get aftermarket bushings for it? or should i go with moog or what?

thanks for any help!

btw, 03 ls sedan. i'd look at my spare tire cover to find out for sure which fe whatever setup that is for sure, but i have no spare tire cover so that goes out the window!

Maybe this helps?
Bolt length is - 5 1/2"
Sleeve is - 5/8"

bushings come with and are greased bushings. No metal clamps, supposed to use factory ones.

Thanks you!!
I wasn't even aware that you reuse the factory strap for the D bushing...so I'm guessing the OD of both the aftermarket and stock bushings are the same, only the ID is larger to accommodate the larger bar?
Good info, definitely appreciate it...looks like I'm calling energy suspension tomorrow!

Blucavvy - I would ge with energry suspension personally, and I may be wrong, but I don't think there was a factory 24mm bar, I think they were 17, 18, and 19mm across the different fe options.

Ive used the front energy suspension greaseable set part # 9.5158 on my 22mm sway bar.I took a grinder and ground down the front sides of the bracket. Then they will slide into the slots of the frame. No problems. http://energysuspension.com/products/Sway-Bar-End-Link-Bushings.html
