How much would it cost to replace a front wheel bearing on a 2003 2 door cavalier?
Should I do them both.......
Is there a simple procedure..

better to do them in pairs then one at a time unless your low on money and can only afford to do one.

Honestly they are only really a 1 hour job per side, assuming they aren't rusted in. But their quote is probably assuming worst case.

Definitely take that $440 and buy yourself some tools, there is no better time to start than now.

yeh all you need is a star bit, 30mm, socket, torque wrench and the stuff to remove the calipers. Which you can rent the torque wrench and socket at most parts stores.

It's a T55 torx bit on the wheel bearings. The calipers come off with a 3/8" allen.

I just my front wheel bearings, I bought $50 Napa premium 4 months ago. They are still nice and smooth well worth the cash. Pretty easy install.

Get the BCA/National/Precision. open the box and read the product if you buy it from napa/carquest since they rebox everything

Ill forewarn you that the wheel bearing can seize up in the knuckle. I had to pull my knuckle and beat the wheel bearing out with a sledge hammer.

Pick up a Haynes manual. Worth the money but they dont factor in the fact that your car is 10 years old. Haha.

+1 on the sledge lol

I had one get stuck in to the point of needing to beat on it with a dead blow hammer after just 3 months of being installed, and I covered everything with anti-seize... they can be a pain.

I've also had them just fall off when I unbolted them, so it seems to go both ways.
