Ebay ball joint and tie rod kit worth it?
Monday, March 21, 2011 9:06 AM
Hey guys, just wanted to get your expert opinions on whether or not I should buy one of these kits on ebay. I think that both my inner and outter tie rods should be replace as there is some play in the steering and a clunk that can be felt through the brake pedal (even when car is off) when the wheel is moved side to side. The ball joints are not looking to hot either. I did a quick search and only found one thread related to them. Sounds like they might be junk and I should just hit up Autozone, but if anyone has any input I would appreciate it. Also, I noticed that both of the sellers are based in Florida. Are they perhaps the same company?

just get quality parts at a local parts store....I wouldn't trust that ebay crap, have you ever seen the amount of damage a broken tie rod can do on a slow moving car, few years ago, a guys tie rod broke and the wheel went sideways and did lots of damage to the fender and he hit another car, this was in a parking lot so he was going slow.... now image what would happen if he was on a highway. Its not worth the few bucks you will save buying that stuff on ebay.

If your just looking for stock i would buy moog stuff wich u will not get at autozone. Autozone parts are no better quality than what u would get on e-bay.

Do they have grease fittings on them? Milton ball joints and tie rod ends have them and the metal is better and thicker than most i have seen

You get what you pay for. I am not putting my life in jepordy with using cheap steering or suspension components.

Hell, I spent over $60 on just ball joints when I replaced mine... that seems sketchy, like most ebay car parts are.

Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.
