Has anyone successfully got big brakes under stock z wheels? If so what rotor diameter were they?

mainly curious about 13inch setups.

13" brakes behind 16" Z rims? How big were the spacers needed to do this? I'm curious, because 12" brakes are hard enough to get behind those rims.

Was the OP reffering to a actual big brake kit? Like a wilwood kit?

Just curious about what people have been able to stuff behind a stock wheel, kit or pieced together.

Brad, what setup is that?
Jay Van got stock Z wheels over willwoods with spacers.

Brad, that still doesn't address the question, LOL. How thick were the spacers needed to do this?

I didn't use spacers

the baer 13" brakes wont fit without a 1" or so spacer, and the the caliper has a step to it, that hits the wheel, or comes damn close

Is that your setup with the F-body calipers? I'd really like to see it without the wheel, front and side views. I know for a fact that the caliper sticks forward over 10mm farther than the J-body one does, and others have said they tried to get those behind factory 16's and they hit the spokes.

Its not an fbody caliper

I have some pics of my setup with the Fbody caliper and 12.73(i think) sti caliper. I really dont think my 00-02 z wheels will fit but im not completely sure.

First off, Brad blows.

Second, here is the details

W body 13in rotors, w body STEEL 2 piston calipers which have smaller piston bores than fbody and are considerably shorter in height, allowing fitment under stock 16s, im quite certain that I could get a 15in wheel over these.

No spacers need to get 16s over these brakes, just slide the wheel on, I will be installing tomorrow so I will try and get good photos.

unacceptable. you need to spend thousands on brakes.

Interesting setup, but I don't know why you'd want to have all that unsprung weight on if you're going for performance.

You mentioned that the pistons are smaller, giving more clearance on the outside, but what about the front clearance to the spokes? Are the calipers narrower as well?

They are narrower since its steel and not aluminum, and I don't care about weight, car will forever remain slow and a daily

realistically with you using the z rims over aftermarket's your weight will be pretty close to stock (had you installed say like 17's or something)

I can definitely feel a difference in the unsprung weight in my setup. The car doesn't seem sluggish or have handling problems but the suspension is noticeably more bouncy. Can't get the teins adjusted right. Its not terrible, just the suspension felt perfect before and after it is a little off no matter what I do.

It's not always just about being fast. Your car drives differently with more unsprung weight. It's less predictable. I'm just curious why someone would be looking at installing big brakes, clearly a performance-oriented part, and not paying attention to the amount of unsprung weight they're adding.

Is there an adapter on your wbody setup? I can't tell.
