i was wondering if anybody has replaced the two center rubber bushings on the stock front sway bar with some form of polyurethane bushings? i just replaced the endlinks wih poly endlinks and the difference was noticeable but i'm thinking with the center bushings being rubber, the bar still has some movement... it's just more uniform. perhaps with the center bushings in polyurethane, it would tighten the front end up even more? thoughts?
it was just an idea i was playing with and i was wondering if anybody did this and if so, if they had a part number. if not, i'll probably just pull one of my bushings out and see if i can't find something that matches at the autoparts store.
p.s. i did search but came up with nothing.
i was wondering the same thing

i think i may have found the right part number from energy suspension for the bushings... i'm gonna go tomorrow and order a set and see if they work.
i'll post up my results
i have yet to install mine but i do have them maybe this weekend
see ya!
i picked up the part i think will work... i'm gonna try the install tonight.
well i've got them on the car. i haven't had a chance to take it out and about yet but the install was a bit of a pita... i ended up dropping the rear of the subframe to better access the bolts for the brackets. also had to remove the endlinks. i ended up grinding the lips off the new bushings and used the stock brackets as the energy one's wouldn't work.
the part number i went with was 9.5108 from energy suspension.
i'll post back up once i get a chance to drive the car a bit.
if anybody has any questions, lemme know.
the 02's have a smaller front bar... it's 22mm.
just got back from the test drive... lemme just say i can't WAIT to get my 18's and lowering springs back on the car. cornering is flat. very flat. i went around corners with snow tires on and had a hard time getting any squeeling out of them. it's insane.
between this and the endlinks, prob top 5 "best 40 bucks i've spent on the car"
hey novaracer: you still have the stock front sway bar right? if so did you have the modify the bushings to fit? ive been looking into this but couldnt find anyone that had them
I used to race cars, now I race myself.

So was it more stiff or less stiff?
I'm thinking of dropping to the 18mm front to compliment a 22mm rear.
So if the poly bushings stiffend things up please share yeah or nay

when i get around to finishing all the installs on my car i will post but i now have GT4 and it is going to take up alot of my time
see ya!
mastin... more stiff. the car barely leans if at all going through corners.
Do they have a set for an 18mm bar?
check energy's website... i used a set of universal frame mount bushings
9-5122 is the part for 18mm bars. How much did you guys pay for them? www.suspension.com has them for 14.00 + shipping.
the stock bracket only bolts down on one side, the other side slides into a tab in the subframe. the brackets that come with the bushings bolt down on both sides
the smaller bushings might work but i'm not 100% sure as i didn't use those.
So what's the diameter on the front bar of an 03 Z24 (FE2 susp.)?
I may not know much about cars, but I know two things....
1) Breaking things is expensive, and
2) Horsepower isn't cheap.
^^ Cool. thanks.

strat81- What kind of endlinks did you put in?
LOL, did anyone see the post I made MONTH's ago about this?
joe... i didn't come up with anything in a search for the frame mount bushings... only the endlinks.
jonathan... i went with the 9.8105 with some 3/8" grade 8 bolts (same length as the stock endlinks) and nuts and a stainless steel spacer (the bolts and spacers were picked up at lowes) i forget the size of the stock spacer but i just measured it and found a spacer the same length.
