Ok so i shouldn't have done any cool donuts on the isce i guess.
after abour 20 min. of fun in the parking lot, I got ETS and ABS lights on. Both are not working anymore.
I know I prolly triggered a fault code buy sliding allover the plave with the rear wheels locked up. My question is how do I reset the abs system and or the ETS system too.
99 Z24 Auto.
Things I have done:
1 Fluid level check.
2 Visual inspection of the entire brake system. (looks ok)
3 disconnect battery over night. (no effect)
any advise would be da-bom.

abs codes usually reset after the key is turned of and then on and driven with no falts on that key cycle
meaning after you drover home ,from being a dounut clown , and next time you driver it it should be ok
yeah but it's not
thanks anyway for the suggestion

Well then you must have broken something.
*Captain Obvious, AWAY!
You should probably take it to someplace that can scan the abs system. Both your traction control and abs work off of the same system. They both use the exciter ring and the wheel speed sensors. Chances are you damaged either one of the rings or one of the sensors and using a scan tool can tell you which one is causing the problem. That would be the best place to start. Hope I could help.

When my 99 auto z does this, i normally shut car off and turn it back on, and it is all fine again. I bet you broke or misaligned something.

Is there no way I can avoid going to the dealer to have the ABS/ETS codes reset.

If you have broken something or a part has went bad even if you clear those codes they will come back on. If you have a buddy that works at a garage with a scan tool they can at least tell you what is wrong so it can be fixed. Then you can have the codes cleared.

I'd take it to an advance auto parts or auto zone store... they can scan the system and tell you what's wrong and even clear the codes for you....
yeah, sliding around in ice and snow will clog up the sensors, so they can't see how fast your wheels are moving, thus throwing a code, let them thaw out, or drive around a bit until it goes off, you jsut have to get the gunk out of there
Does the abs and ets still work or are they non-functional??
