Ok, I have a 1997 4dr LS cavy; I got some drums from a friend and I guess they are for a 1998-2000 cavalier... they look a little bigger than mine though.
One the outside of the new drums it says:
Max. Dia. 227.25MM (which I also got the pads for the drums of this size)
My old ones say:
Max. Dia. 201.4 MM
Since most parts are interchangeable from a 95-99 and a few others.... since I have the pads for the bigger drums, will the drums not only fit my car, but work properly?
They should work, but I think the '95-'02 drums are all the same size. The '03+ drums are larger, maybe that's what you've got your hands on, or maybe the sedans had smaller stock drums, who knows? Try it out and let us know how it works regardless.
15.3 @ 89.97mph, 14's on the way?
For Sale:
'01 SFGT springs $50CAN
Getrag '00-'02 2.4 8000kms $800
They changed to 227mm in 03 they should work fine.
Everyone forgot to mention that you will need the backing plates and the two rear ebrake cables as well.
If you don't believe me, go ahead and try it but I've already been there and done that.

Yes, that's true, I was just commenting on the drum size mostly, not thinking about the install.

The bolt pattern is just a lil too big, so they don't fit at all...
If the bolt pattern is different it's probably not from a Cavalier
The cavalier came with larger rear drums as an option. They have been mainly for fleet cars htough as I have never seen a car equipped witht he larger ones. Even the Z24/GT's have the smaller drums standard.

Mark, I beleive the larger drums are standard on 03+'s. Mine came from a 2004 base coupe. A friend of mine with an 03 LS sport also had the larger drums.
