TEINs Update
Saturday, April 09, 2005 9:07 AM
I blew through a rear strut mount today while driving in Flint, MI. Looks like I'll have to keep off the roads until I'm out of school again.

If you have bad roads you'll want to consider something other than TEINs they are a little stiff.

On a related note, anyone know where I can find a new rear strut mount for cheap?

Sears, Autozone, Pepboys, Napa, Murrys,

They all sell it... probably cost you 30$ per rear or so . . ..

^^ It wasn't installed wrong. It may have been a particularly weak strut mount though.

Ahh Yes Im waiting for that to happen to me, we need somebody to come up with a better aftermarket solution for these rear strut mounts. I screwed up one drilling it out (got to hot) another one I was torqueing the damnbolt to 18 lbs and it snapped off before I even got there! but I couldn't return it of course because I bored it out, so there was 90 bucks down the drain.

The spring rates on the TEIN Basic coilovers are only 336 front and 224 rear....so that isnt terribly stiff. I think I would agree with you on the bad strut mount. How many miles on your ride approx. ?

The car itself only has 23,000 miles. The TEIN setup only has 3,000 or so.

That strut mount pics looks very familiar!!!

Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. Which strut mount were you using? Mine were Gabriels...so I'm staying away from them.

yeah i had to drill the hole in the stock rear mount (mine have 45k miles on em) and mine are holding real well with my koni/gc setup and i know the spring rates on the gcs are quite a bit higher if i remember correctly....

that sucks though man
