Ridin on GC/Koni with a 19mm Hellwig rear sway bar/GRD Tie bar. I've been told that without a front swaybar, the rear end is gonna be so tight that I will be able to literally drift and the back will swing out when I don't want it to.
Whats a good match for this combo?
BTW, the sway bar/tie bar still isnt on. I want to verify this claim first.

Just pull whatever OEM front bar off a stock J that you can. Those range from 18-22mm I believe. Whatever you end up with, you can compensate with in tire pressues and shock stiffness.
On a side note, I had a tie bar installed on my car and took it off because I felt it added entirely too much oversteer.
you can get any front bar you want, if you get an 03+ they had a 24mm bar on them, and the bar is cheap from GM, you can look it up on www.gmpartsdirect.com

what do you do with your car? if you autox then i would say 18mmbar to still have a neutral car, that would not push so bad. but if not then for safety i would go 03-up 24mm. and have you looked into control arm bushings? he// may as well slap them in while you have the sub-frame down
see ya!
I'll probably go with a 24mm from the 03+. I don't do any autocross but I LOVE driving it hard its just so fun hehe. but i might do some autocross this year, we'll see.

Here is my setup, do you guys think i will have problems? H&R 1.6/1.4 lowering springs, kyb gr2 struts, gravanas front and rear strut bar set, rear sway bar, and im thinking of getting front sub frame connector, will i have problems like pj is thinking of possibly having, of the rear end being so stiff it will slide out?

Sorry to post-jack .... but does anyone make a rear tie bar that'll work with the rksport rear sway bar?
ive got the 1" hellwig sway on the rear , and i have yet to have the car try to come around on me
ive got the stock 18mm front bar , and if i ever quit being lazy ill get my front 1" bar put on both of my cavs
lol
You ever try autocrossing eric? I have the 18mm up front and a 25.4mm in the rear (addco). I can get it to come around, but no where near as easily as I could with a tie bar. IMO, the swaybar setup I have now is perfect. I have just a touch of oversteer, but not enough to get into any trouble.

You will if you don't stiffen the front up with a sway bar. The sub frame brace had minimal effects in my opinion.
How did you get the Helwig 1" rear?
Been looking for that bar for a while.
And with my recent raise I should actually be able to afford it now.
Selling or know where I can get one. (or you and I pay+the finders fee)
Or,
pjk: are you willing to sell your Helwig rear bar?
When I had the 25.4mm rear (eibach/addco) and tie bar combo I could get the end to kick around of sorts.
My car was always FE2 suspension. And I had the front SFB, poly a-arm bushings, and f/r strut bars to compliment everything.
With the RK 22mm rear, there was still ever so slight understeer
Grrr

Mastin, if you have a different sway bar right now I may be willing to trade with you. I have a Hellwig with reconditioned hardware (sandblasted and powder coated the brackets and have new J bolts).
I dont have any rear bar right now.
But I wanted to check out/get a feel on the Helwig rear.
I mean, Ive been noticing in general cars have smaller rear sway bars.
Most likely for normal driver safety.
But even the high end gtps only have 19mm rears from the factory.,
I was like
.
And Event liked the feel of the Helwig so I'd like to try it out too.
If you needed me to foot the bill for another bar for you I could do that.
And trade for the Helwig that way.

is it hard to add a front sway bar to a car that didnt come with one? honestly i havent looked under the front of mine yet to tell if i have one or not. i have a 00 2.2. if it came with one i heard its easy to swap, but if it didnt....? how hard and long of a project are we talking there?
There is a post about putting the front bar in with many pictures. It will take you a few hours.

This is actually Art's rear bar/tie bar. He sent it to me with all new hardware and the such. I'm going to put it on and if I don't like the stiffness I'll send you an email

Yeah I have the RK 22mm rear bar, and it is about neutral for me...a little tight yet, but not much. I have the 18mm front from the factory on my 99z.
I would like a 25.4mm one...but I don't feel like buying one when I already have one.
