I am getting ready to do my lower control arm bushings, and rear axle bushings. I have looked everywhere in Gainesville for a tool to remove and install them. With my luck, there is not one for rent or to be bought. Any ideas?
I was looking on-line and i found this thing:
http://www.advanceautoparts.com/english/youcan/html/pht/pht20021101bt.html
But it is something someone made. I'm gonna look into making this, but instead of the "U" piece, I was gonna use a 3 1/2" socket.
Has anyone used or made something like this?
What's some different ways to remove the old bushings.
I read the post for installing them, but it had nothing about where or how to make the tool he had used. (I would add the link, but I can't find it now.
Thanks for any help.
I used a gear puller to take the small one out. Put a large socket head bolt through the center, and wrap the gear puller arms around the opposite side of the control arm, and push the bushing through (by pressing on the bolt head). Worked really well with a little silicone lube.

Ok, thanks again. I'll be doing it this weekend, so I'll let you know how it went.
As for the rear axle bushing; any ideas on that?
