Like it says, I'm wondering if there's any difference. Because I just did the front mount swap on my '03, from '00+ mounts to '95-'99 's. It raised the front up about a half inch in height. Now, on the rears, I still have my '00+ mounts. I have KYB AGX's and Eibach Pro-kits on the back, and the height is the same as the day I installed them. So I don't think there is any sagging in the springs. But now the car looks a little funny. The wheel gap in the front is now larger than the gap in the rear. Would swapping out mounts in the rear, raise the car up an equivalent half inch, to even out the look? Or is there even a difference?
I may not know much about cars, but I know two things....
1) Breaking things is expensive, and
2) Horsepower isn't cheap.
I swore it was the 2k+ front mounts that raised up 1/4" than the pre-99 mounts?
95-05 rear mounts are the same
where did you get your strut mounts, and how much were they roughly?

fronts are about 48/per side
rears, autozone wanted like 40 each, i was like no f'n way... but i've heard you can get em around 20-25/each

Got the fronts from a wreckers. They were $50Can each. But that was the whole front assembly. So now I have some blown front shocks and worn out springs sitting in the garage for now. I replaced the bearings for $20 a piece from an autoparts store. I couldn't get the fronts new for less than $75 at a parts store, or $150 from the stealership (each!).

so what is the best set up??
95-99s in the front if you have a 2000+ cav/fire and the rears i guess just get the ones for my year(2002)cuz they are the same for 95-05?
I got my rear ones from the dealership for $22 each. The front ones I just called around to O'Reilly's, Autozone, and Parts America and there was about a $50 spread.

i would like to know the same thing. i have an 03. would i be better off with 95-99 mounts in front, or 00-05's?

Well, in my experience with the different types of front mounts, the '95-'99 fronts are WAAAAAAAAAAAY better. I had clunking from day 1 with the '00+ mounts, and if you have any, the '95-'99's will cure that. I'm gonna replace my rears, cause I think they are wearing out anyways, so I'll probably go with the same type, '95-'99's. I'll let you know.

but which ones are the ones that raise the car up a little bit? id prefer not to raise the car anymore

It's the '95-'99 mounts that raised the car up about a half inch. But for me, the half inch is worth the difference.

I can back this up. When I went with my Koni Yellow and GC setup my 00 mounts cracked and clunked. I now have had 99 SFGT mounts in my car, front and back, no clunks. I just lowered my car more on the GCs and you can't tell that they raised the car up.
so if i have a 2002 2.2 ohv, can i use strut mounts from a 99z24 or does it have to be from a 99 2.2??? thanks alot people i appreicate all the help, these noises are really annoying.
^^ i beleive they are all the same. well 95-99 are the same, and 00-05 are the same.
so you should be ok

So would there be any point to changing the mount to 95-99 mounts from my current 00+ mounts, with a stock suspension?
And can someone post a pic or schmatic showing the actually differeances between the two?
It has sparked some interest.
“Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that’s even remotely
true.

^^As for replacing the mounts on stock struts, meh, it's really up to you. If you're getting clunking and whatnot, if you're still on stock susp. you can go to the dealer, and have all that replaced. For me, I'm lowered, so the dealership said they wouldn't touch the mounts. As for pictures on the differences, I don't have any. But I can tell you some of the main differences.
'00+ mounts. Two piece design. No bearing to sandwich between the pieces. They need to be greased regularily. Whole mount is coated in rubber, and where the upper and lower pieces meet, they are rubber coated plastic pieces that ride on grease. Over time, the rubber will rub away, and the plastic parts will come loose, causing clunking while going over bumps.
'95-'99 mounts. They are a 4 piece design. Starting from the top, you have the mount washer, upper mount, bearing ring, and upper spring seat. The spring seat, well, does what it sound like, the spring sits on it. The bearing ring is sandwiched between the spring seat and the upper mount. There are ball bearings in the ring, and it also needs to be greased regularily. To hold it all together, is the mount washer. It helps to squeeze the whole unit together, so that it sits nice and snug.
With the two types of mounts, the better to me seems to be the older ones. Sure, there are more pieces, but when the bearing ring goes bad, and it will after a while, it's a $20Can part to replace. With the newer type of mount, when it goes bad, the whole thing is tossed and a new one is put in. Personally, I find the build quality better on the older ones as well.
