i am wondering what a abs controller is..apparently mine has gone bad and id like to change it...im thinking it is the hing that is nex to the booster right???phil

well they are fine when i start the car no abs light and then a few seconds after moving the abs light comes on but the scary thing i whn i put the brakes on for the first time the brakes sometimes work and sometimes not till the light comes on then they work fine..i got sick of it so i took my relay out...but i wouldnt mind getting them fixed..phil
Have you checked the fuse?
I know my 2000 fire has one, and when the fuse blew, i had weird symtoms like you.

well i havent checked the fuse but i have no clue where that is....but the guy who owned the car before me was a friend of mine and he took it in and that is what they told him that it was the controller but he never got it fixed cause its a 1500$ part...phil
I sold my ABS controller on Ebay for $150. I can probably find you one here at a wrecker for like $50 if you really are stuck
On 95-99 cars.. it's above the driver's feet... where they put the BCM on 00+ models. It has the letters ETS in big letters on its sticker.
However... that said... go get it scanned first. If the ABS light comes on after you start moving... it might be a wheel sensor!

it doesnt come on till i put the brakes on for the first time..when i do the pedal goes all wierd and it sounds like grinding and doesnt want to stop..then the light comes on and the brakes work like normal brakes..phil

^^^^what?? it doesnt do it right now..i took the fuse out for the abs so the abs doesnt work just normal brakes....the car is safe i just would like to fix the abs..but thatnks for the unconstructive advice..phil

and that sounds very very bad.
However, no fuse = normal brakes = I hope you know how to drive in an emergency
