Air Strut Gone Bad?
Wednesday, April 27, 2005 5:01 PM
ok i am sooo frustrated with my air ride right now, let me explain:

i have AIM rear cylinders, and 2 new easystreet struts, i have only 2 two way valves, well the back pass cyl doesnt go up all the way or down all the way as in a previous post i mentioned, and the back drivers cyl goes almost all the way up before the pass cyl even moves. The front pass bag it also goes up slower then the drivers side but goes down all the way as it is supposed to. Today i switched thevalves to make sure it wasnt that, and that is when the front quit working right, but the back just did the same, so im wondering if it is possible that i have a bad valve and a bad cyl., PLEASE HELP, i cant figure it out, thanks later

here is a pic of what my valves look like, i beleive they are AIM also

well for one if the air line is longer then you will notice a difference but i doubt it would be that much longer for the rear not to move until the other side is up. i suggest checking out the wiring. also you may have a pinch in your line.

well today i belive i may have fixed the problem, i took both the back struts off then put them back on after examining them, and i believe the one side was in a bind (no damage was done tho since i hadnt driven it that much) but ya the one side that was goin up slower, its line is actually like 3 in. shorter so it should have been going up faster then the other if anything, but after i got the rear struts back on guess what? my damn compressor quit pumping like its supposed to, it is a viair 400 or 450 and it is only pumping half of what it used to, so this is never ending chaos for me, but soon it shall all be fixed im sure, i took the top part of the compressor apart then put it back together started it up and it worked perfect again, shut it off immediately turned it back on and only pumps half power, any suggestions, later

have you started your car lately? i know when i didnt drive my car for a while i would run the compressor just to keep the tank filled and after a while it took longer and longer for the tank to fill. it was just the battery draining.

ya i started the car and everything, it is now working properly, i took it apart again and since then it has worked fine, i have shut it off a few times and it is still going good, so i dont know what exactly is causing it but im kind gettin freaked out by my air ride (it has its own mind) lol

but the strut started acting up again so i took it off again and actually took it apart and there is a seal broke, so now i have to find a place to get the seal, so til then i guess ill be ridin goldlines in rear and bags in front, would you happen to know where i can get the seals, thanks later

what kind of seals? like "o" rings? if so you can pick them up at home depot. they have a ton of "o" rings is all different sizes. you might wanna look into getting rid of those cylinders. aim sucks and their known to break.

no they aint o rings they are kinda weird lookin and ya i am going to get rid of them dont worry i have had enough with them already, i am gettin ready to move to cincy so once i get there and start makin some money i can get some easystreet rears (ohhh cant wait for that day, lol), i guess for the seal ill have to check online and try and find the company that makes them until i can get those easystreets, thanks for the help tho, later
