Well I finally got them putted on yesterday...............Install was pretty much straight forward, but I did run into one problem that almost caused me to have a heart attack.........When my mechnic and I did the front first, we already took the strut housing off of the stock strut, 2002 Cavalier Ls Sport, and compressed the B-G springs onto the D-specs, with the housing on there and everything secured..........the B-G springs was still very LOOSE and I could push on D-specs and it'll move up and down, which it is not suppose too.... anyways we called B-G tech center and they didn't no how to solve the problem either and blamed it on the D-specs............So after thinking...........we decided to make some spacers and that solved our problem..............has anyone ever done that before???? The rear was fine and install was a breeze..........anyways I set the adjustable setting to what the Tokico manual suggested 5 rotations from firm........... and after driving around all day yesterday, I have to say that it is AWESOME..........The D-Specs are WORTH the Investment!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The drop wasn't really too dramatic........ 1.6 inch drop and that was what I wanted......... Other than that, I did notice that when I make a complete turn or when my car is stopped and I turn the wheel, I notice a little noise as I was doing it......it wasn't really nothing to worry about I hope.....any ideas why the noises are there????
I'd send them back and get a brand new set.....no reason why you should have to compensate for their product defects! GET NEW ONES MAN! Then beg your mechanic to let you install them for free

wait arent the d-specs are a basically bolt em on strut right? or do you have to do em like konis and use the old stock housing for a cartridge?
and the B+G are lowering springs which means they arent as long as the stock springs...
with lowering springs, there should be at full extension space between the strut mount and the spring. a small space.
you are basically putting a shorter spring on a strut that has the same distance to move as the stock spring.
well when i put mine in with sportlines they went in fine didn't even use a spring compressor no modifcations needed. yes it is the same as a OEM replacement.

thats what i was thinking.
D-Specs went on fine....just like OEM....... When the Strut Mount was secured onto the strut on top of the spring ( with the spring already compressed)......... you could push on the top part of the strut mount and it'll move up and down, so it was loose as a goose, (only the front ones)......... put some spacers on their and it solved the problem!!!! I will post pics as soon as I get a new scanner........Later.......
The spring was loose, or the mount on the strut was loose. If it was the mount, then ok, probably missing a washer or something.
If it was the spring...well of course, you had it compressed. When it is fully extended, there should be a little gap, but not too much.

The mount was loose cause you could push on it and it'll move, but the springs had like a inch gap, so that was why the mount could move...Ride is awesome now....... I would rate the D-specs on a 1 to 5 scale a 5 all the way, installation is a 5, and to adjust the settings a 5.........peace!!!!!!!!!
the gap is normal considering they are lowering springs.
cool you like the ride, but those spacers you might have just raised your car a bit.
most lowering springs will not fully fill the space between the spring perch and the strut mount.
That's what I thought at first, but the mechanic told me that the strut mount isn't suppose to move like that when you push down on it, otherwise the mount will break very easily because it's so loose......the spacers did raise it a bit cause I didn't get the full 1.6 inch drop, but it's all good because the ride is awesome now.
all cool, if you are satisfied.
but just for future reference, now ya know
Glad I read this before I did my install
So basically, with sportlines, all I'll need to use the spring compressor for is the stock ones? Glad to hear you like the ride
