Need New Struts
Wednesday, May 11, 2005 7:44 AM
When I brought my car in last, I was told that my struts were needing to be replced within the next 5 or 6,000 miles. I was wondering what type of product would be good to get, what the price range would be, and the difficulty of replacing these??
Also, If I was to do this, should I just go all out and give it a mild drop, and new pads, rotors, ect...??? If so, what woudl be a good combination? I have heard a lot of good about the reds and yellows.

Mild drop you might be okay with the KYB GR2s, if you go lower you might want to take a look at Konis. I think Konis are the number one product for lowered cars, no one can match the warranty that they offer. If you are just going to stay stock height, then just get some Monroe struts or something. KYB or Monroe are simple remove and replace, the Konis need a little more work to get them in, you'll have to do some cutting.

If you want to go all out then do one thing at a time and do it right. Do the suspension first and do it right, THEN worry about the breaks.

J-kub you have it wrong. KYB GR2's are NOT meant for a drop. They are meant for an OEM replacement. If you are looking into any kind of drop look at the konis or tokico d-specs.

Actually KYB AGX (Adjustable)are good for a mild drop up to 1.5" (The AGX are not to be used with coil overs.) Yeah GR2's are really an OEM replacement.

For a mild drop, I went with AGXs, they are also budget friendly. The D-specs should be a good alternative to the Konis, with the added bonus that they are a bolt-on rather then the cutting needed to install the Konis.
