Alright, well the car is dropped on prostreets and everytime the wheel turns all the way around it makes a terrible grinding noise. Does anybody know the cause of this or could they point me in a direction?
from the info i got, im puttin more pressure on the cv joints and axles. and since the car is a lot lower now its make the joints angle up. its only on the drivers side front. it makes a loud grinding/sqeeky noise once the wheel goes around. it stops when i accelerate but just cruising it does it
.......grind.....grind......grind.....grind..... and so forth
someone forgot to put bearings up front....
the ones that come with the stock 95-99 mounts.
i have the 99 strut mounts, the sound is coming from between the hub to the cv joint
the suspension is fine, its just making that noise from that area. im checking on it today
well if in that area, it could be the hub bearings gone bad...
if its a thump thump noise like a muffled fart, then it can be the CV joints.
dont know how low your car is, but alot of people are running these pretty much all the way down.
might look great to you, but you wear the cv joints faster.
its a compromise you have to make.
once i figure out wut the sound is coming from, i will have my axles and cv's checked to make sure they are even and leveled, i have them all the way down and the cv is just angled just a little bit. it has to be somthing with the hub or somthing in that area. i can hear it more towards the outside of the wheel then i can on the inside of the wheel.
keep in mind its angled a little, bit, then you sit in the car and it goes down a bit more.
you arent hitting bumpstops on bumps are you? if so, the extra stress is transfered elsewhere.
no it dont bottom out at all
its gotta be somthin between the hub and the back of the rotor, i dont kno wut else it could be
i think its the hub assy, wheel bearing
raise the car, wheel not touching the ground. grab at 3 and 9 oclock and jiggle it. do the same at 6 and 12...
is it loose any?
i will try that, but no its not loose
garrick i got mine today and it sounds like there is sand in my bearings..
you can take the bearings apart on the 95-99 strut mounts, clean em and regrease em.
Interesting, while I have no such problems with my Prostreets...
