warranty questions....

quick question...

since i found a great deal on tein basics....but they only have 1 year warranty...

how low is considered "slammed" for the koni reds? i would be dropping my 01 sunfire GT 2.5" on GC coils and koni reds....if i choose them over the teins....

however most of my friends say taht the 1 year warranty could easily comeback to haunt me, whereas the lifetime warranty for koni reds is a bonus

what im getting at is....

how often are shocks going to blow? how worried to i have to be about driving like this?

this WILL be driven in winter (at stock height) but lowered 2.5" during summer....

If you lower your car 2.5" you really need to get something with a life time warranty. Koni might not even honor it though, because that could be considered slammed.

hmmm...anyone know what koni considers to be "slammed"?

it will be lowered a minimum of 2 inches

anything past 1.5 pretty much starts to get into that category.

How far can I safely lower my car?
KONI shocks are designed to fit standard height cars and can work with lowered cars as long as they don't bottom out internally and become damaged. Unlike some shocks, KON'Is are not position sensitive so they will work properly anywhere in their stroke range providing they are not bottoming or topping out. Different vehicle suspension designs have different stroke travels but a good rule of thumb is that most vehicles can be lowered acceptably about 1 1/2 inches, beyond that the possibility of bottoming increases rapidly although some longer stroke cars can go lower. Most vehicles are equipped with bump stops to keep the shocks and springs from bottoming out. When lowering a vehicle be sure to reuse your bump stops as they are cheap insurance to avoid bottoming damage.

the lower you go the more you take a chance. koni is really built for performance, not show. for show most might wanna consider air or hydraulic. especially if you wanna ride around like that. in addition to how much extra weight is in your car as well.
