well im basically stuck with 2 suspension options i am looking at.... for my 2001 Sunfire GT...
(1) Tein Basics
(2) Ground Control Coilovers w/ Koni Red Struts
I can get them both for relatively the same price....however i cannot decide on a few factors.
(1)Warranty - The teins only come with a 1 year warranty subjected to by tein. While the koni reds have lifetime warranty. The wrench thrown in here, is i plan on dropping my car a MINIMUM of 2" and to a MAXIMUM of 2.5". Now i am pretty sure this is considered "slamming" your car, and would void the koni warranty.
(2)Install - Im not a huge expert when it comes to installing these, however i can get some friends to help me if needed. The tein basics are direct boltups and will use my stock strutmounts. However the konis require a hell of alot more work and are not direct boltsups.
(3)Ride quality - I am not overly concerned with these, but the streets in my city are not the greatest and i do not want these things blowing. Which is better in that case?
These are a few factors affecting my decision, and based on what i have listed...what would you guys recommend for my application?
Personally...i lean towards the teins, as well as my dad. But other opinions are greatly valued.
Thanks for reading!
Derek
i would also go with the teins......especially for points 1&2 you don't wanna blow a warranty and you don't want a suspension install to take all day because your not sure what needs to be done
the Konis don't require a WHOLE LOT MORE WORK the only thing you have to do different is cut the stock strut open from the top drill a hole in the bottom and tighten a screw. it adds a whole 20-30 min to the entire installation. I just put Koni's on w/ a set of Goldlines 2.5 inch drop. the roads here suck for air, Dirty Elf seems to like his ride quite abit. e-mail him and ask for yourself. I've had my Yellows on for awhile now, granted not on coil-overs and I love 'em well worth the little extra time. if you wanna see just how easy it is look here in this forum for my Koni install w/ pictures. good luck with what ever you go with.
Thanks for the opinions guys!
Still looking for a few more though for the guys that can take the time.
lil update...no worried about install...have friends that have installed em many times that will help me out....
