Does anyone know why MOOG lists 2 different part numbers for J-body Ball Joints?
82-96 are listed as part K5273
97 & up are listed as part K6527
The spindles and control arms with the ball joints attached for 95 & up J-body cars are the same AC Delco part.
So why the different replacement part?
one might have a different grease joint maybe? like the older ones sealed, and the newer ones with a grease nipple?
just guessin.
i;d say just get the one for your year to be safe.
got your email, i;ll double check with scruf for ya.
Funny - I just compared the stock (87) to stock (98) ball joints. For the stock, the 87 ball joints had a grease fitting, the stock 98 do not. I know when I bought MOOG replacements for my 98 2 years ago they had a grease fitting.
Also, Event , I measure about a 1/4" height increase by going to the newer spindle. Did Scruff see any noticable difference in height or camber when he made the swap?

ok heres the info, just got off the phone with scruf...
-he used the ball joints that came with his car, so you dont have to upgrade there. the bolts (like you said in email) have to be upgraded to the 95+ style.
-he didnt notice a height increase, 1/4 inch isnt really noticable, but none at all.
-and for alignment, they had to notch out the strut a bit, but says it differs from car to car, or strut to strut.
other than that, everything else was from the car originally besides the spindles, calipers, etc...
hope that helps man.
Thanks. Should have mine done by the end of the week.
