Rear Sway Bar help
Tuesday, May 24, 2005 9:04 PM
So ive been thinking of getting a rear sway bar. I have a few questions:
Is there a differnce between the brands...? I know some people have a favorite company but is there an advantage between the RkSport one and the Addoco one?
And am i doing anything wrong with getting just the rear one? Should they both be done at the same time?

Thanks

rear alone is fine, just dont go too large....

there is a difference in brands, mainly size, check the FAQ, i;ve listed all the sizes and most if not all the brands. near the bottom of the page, but i;ve added a table of contents to the FAQ, top of the forum.

I don't know that I would put a rear sway bar on if the car does not have a front sway bar from the factory.

RK Sport is smaller but bolts right up. Addco (my personal fav) requires a little drilling but is larger.

a small rear like a 19mm hellwig is decent. only cause the car naturally has understeer... you can move more into neutral stee range.

22 pushes the non front bar range though.

Ok so after reading Would the RKSPORT bar be good for my setup? If i dont plan on changing the front?

you have a front one already? if so, then it would be a decent choice and not too overpowering. by your cars year listed, you have a 22mm front, so a 22mm rear will do some good. i dont know your driving style and or preference, so my best advice would be to try the rksport and then see how you like it, if you want a bit more, try the addco... if you are satisfied and you want it a bit more crisp, add a tie bar to keep things consistent.

I think an RK with a tie bar should be at least as effective as a plain addco, so keep that in mind.

Just in case you are wondering, if you have no front bar and you put the biggest one out back the 25.4 or 26mm depending on who you get it from you will have major oversteer and the ass end can and will come around real easy if your not looking for it. But if you are it can be alot of fun, but not rec for a daily driver.
