Here is a link to read http://www.progressauto.com/pages/oversteer.htm

Here are corrections for understeer/oversteer. Sway bars are discussed about 1/3 of the way down http://rogerkrausracing.com/overundr.html

understeer would be when your barreling into a corner and you point the nose one way and it goes the opposite way your pointing in nascar terms this would be a tight condition

oversteer would be when you go barreling into that same corner and your front end points where you want it to but your back end slides out to the opposite direction almost like how someone drifts a corner in nascar terms this would be a loose condition

I like to think about understeer in terms of terminal understeer (this is how you know you got it). If you go into a corner too hot and you have the wheel turned all the way to the left or right the car will break traction in the front and start sliding straight.

Oversteer at the extreme is when the car wants to spin out on you.

oversteer is when the front has more grip than the rear causing the ass to slide out, understeer is when you loose most traction in the front resulting in the assend trying to push the car streight
