Sway Bar Question....
Thursday, June 09, 2005 8:44 AM
which would be better to have the Eibach Anti-Roll Sway Bar Set - Front & Rear or the Addco Front & Rear Sway Bar Set?

Right now i have the Tokico D-spec shocks/struts and spring and no strut bar..so i'm trying to figure out which one would be best..i really don't know that much about sway bars i mean should i have only one in the rear or in the front or would i benfit more from having both rear and front..please help

do you have one in the front now? if you do i think you have the 18mm unless you have the z24 or SFGT then its a 22mm bar in the front.

i have the d-specs with prokit.. i have both front and rear strut tower bars. my stock front sway is 22mm and that is big enought.. i'm getting the Addco bar 1" that should give me enough to give me a more neutral feel in cornering.

i believe that if you use the addco rear on the 18mm stock front bar then you might have a tad more of oversteer.. but i'm not too sure on that.

the D-spec manual explains a little about suspension setups and sway bars. if that doesn't help i know that there is a post around here that explains sway bars and their effects.

I have the Eibach sway kit on my 01 cav and i absolutely love it! i couldnt be happier. I didint have a front bar so the install of the front bar was a PITA hardcore, and it will be not that easy for you too, but atleast you already have all the parts to make it happen. Even on my stock (i have a pro-kit/AGX combo going on very soon) suspension, the handling improvement was amazing even with the stock steel 14" wheels and tires with no strut braces.

If you don't physically see a bar by looking through your tires then you don't have one.

If you see it, there should be some info one you spare tire cover in the trunk.
Well that's where mine was.

It will say on thre somewhere, FE1,2 or 3

if you autocross get the addco 1" rear bar and the 03ls sport 24mm front bar. if you are not into autocross then eibach kit is a nice package

see ya!

Your suspension code should be one of FE0, FE1, or FE2. I don't believe FE3 was an option on the J-cars

Go with the Addco bars for sure, I just put them in and they are just awsome. There is a difference between them and the Eibach kit, my buddy has the Eibach kit and he has upgraded the rear bar to the Addco and loves it as well. Also I believe the Addco are cheaper, we got them off shox.com(I think) for $129.00 each american and I think the Eibach is around $300. Sometimes bigger is better. LOL.

John I remember reading where someone mentioned that FE3 was an 05 thing only, 24mm bar up front. I know Event didn't correct them lol

FE3 was an option on the second gen
they had FE1 (cheapest suspension no swaybar at all)
FE2 front sway bar
and FE3 wich had front and rear sway bar and a front strut tower brace (coupe and sedan)
plus a rear strut brace on the convertible

I think im near if im not correct!

...or you could just turn your wheels all the way in one direction and measure with a caliper, or a regular ruler. 1 inch =25.4 mm either way you have a22 or 24 mm bar if theres one there

i personally think oversteer is a little more fun to drive with than understeer. the prelude i just sold had serious oversteer for a FWD, but it was a fun car to drive
