First off let me say nice site, looks like you guys are a cool bunch of peeps...
Now heres the pickle....
My father just bought a 2001 Cavalier and I was just about to change his brake pads when i noticed there was no nut to unscrew...Instead, there is a spot for a hex key? I haven't used hex keys to change brake pads before. So maybe you all can help me save some time at The Home Depot, Sears, w.e....
Do those keys have any perticular name? I imagine I attach them to my socket wrench?
What size do i need?
Am I going to see any thing else out of the ordinary once i get in there?
Thanks in advanced
We need to put this in the stickey. Or may a link to the page.
Changing brakes is in the "Maintenance" section.
That key is a 3/8 Allen Wrench. There are two bolts (top and bottom) that takes this, then the calliper slides right off. That hex key works on most of GMs smaller verhicles. I know the J (Cavalier & Sunfire), N (Grand Am, Alero, Malibu), H (Bonneville, 88s, LeSaber) bodies use them. Others too I'm sure. So it's generally a good investment if you don't have one already.
