Hey what is the best sway bar set up to go with?? just mild upgrade not the 26MM stuff from manta part or auto cross components. THANKS!
Remeber there are no stupid questions, just stupid people.
1) there isnt a BEST
2) swaybars have a certain function, some people will not need large swaybars, its best to learn what they do and what effect they will have on your car before adding them.
3) all three do the same thing, depending on size, there may be more of an effect....but learn what that is before just adding something you may or may not need
The Eibach and Addco setups are both good choices, and the prices are about the same. Since your not into the auto-cross thing and just want a more stable handling car I would go with the Eibach. it comes with most everything in the box the you need.
Which would be the best bar for just normal driving and sometimes harder driving on an 02 with the factory front sway bar?
yes mostly daily driving, but ablut to push harder then normal. no off road autocross just beeffen up the susupension a bit.

Just a side note, don't order anything from Mantapart...if you can get a Mantapart product used, that's different. Their products I hear are ok.

well for redcav 1 your being the base sport , it should have the FE2 which is the better handling package , all you really need is a drop and some 17's with good tires
the stock FE2 22mm bar , and the 19mm after market rear bar for those that dont have the FE2 , is plenty for little more than normal driving , more so when mixed with good tires and a drop
if anyone read GM's deal on the cobalt cup cars they are not using the front bar , so its all a matter of what you want and need , or how you drive
but the eibach and addco are nice kits

BAM! There ya go...
I also agree, Eibach & Addco setups are good.

I read in a post here that w/ the FE2 suspension the addco makes the car pretty close to neutral fealing. Which is what i'm going with.
2006 Cobalt SS 2.4L 9.6 @74mph 1/8th mile w/2.28 60ft
the rksport 22mm bar is nice.....

97cavie24ls(JDM cav sedan™),
My bad, i thought we were talking about rear sway bars for some reason. That was my question, which rear sway bar would probably work the best with the stock fe2 front sway bar for normal driving and sometimes harder driving but no on-track autocross?
or do u recommend doing something else for what im looking for, or not think it would be worthwhile getting a rear sway bar?
sorry bout the long post.
thanks
well the FE2 has a rear bar(kinda hidden ) , some people think its not the best , but it works
and id stick with the smaller of the bars , on the FE2 cars
my g/fs 02 cav has the FE2 with the eibach kit , and it feels good with the 25.4 and the 19 rear , but it pushes the limits of the stock 205/55/16 rsa's
but if you want better than stock , but not over done stay to the small side
I'm on FE2 with the 19mm Helwig.
(someone WILL sell me their 25.4mm joint one day)
Car rides fine, about the same as the RK 22mm rear.
Still trying to find the good combo though.

Remember....syringes go in the RED waste basket.
Im going woth the Addco's. they have everything i need with the setups, and they are 25.4mm (1 inch bars) which heavier then the eibachs. and they are also cheaper, a few of my dudes here in warren ohio are rolling with them and they said there were pretty sweet. im also getting HighRev K Brace, and RSM Strut tower bars. that is going to be about all im spending for now well at least this season unless my student loan is alot more cushion then i hope =-)
I already got 17's with Yokohama Avis Tires, and Eibach Springs on Stock Shocks and Struts. im lookin for Koni Yellows if the student loan will allow it.
Thanks for you help guys!

to be safe get the addco front and the rk 22mm rear. because in the wet during hard cornering i noticed a good bit of over steer(had a autox this weekend in the rain) well i spun on my last run

Oversteer can be bad yes...try to even it out like he said.

I have both the addco front and rear sway bars and I'm very happy with them. Addco has been around for quite some time (I believe the 60's).
I did notice that I had terminal understeer on my car when using the addco's (may not be the same on your car since you have a different setup than I do). I threw a rear tie bar on and now the car is exatly neutral- which makes it very fun to drive.
I noticed that when my car picked up the inside rear tire the car would oversteer in the wet.
see ya!
Well that should be obvious nova. You only have one rear tire with a little bit of traction so of course its going to rotate on you.
How would I know for sure if my car has the fe2 suspension? I think it does but I just want to know for sure what it has.....
also, where is the rear stock sway bar kinda hidden at?
thanks
2K Cavalier 4spd auto, for the O/D, only option. Addco rear bar and PTCruiser alloys with 205's the only aftermarket additions. Without a front bar (base model), it handles extremely well. They're engineered with massive understeer. The big Addco rear bar, and plus 2 rubber did the trick for me.
that rear bar is only a there to stabilize the rear twist beam axle. it dose not function as an anti sway bar, if you have a front sway bar on the 02 then it should be FE2, 22mm bar.

in the lane changes it is more than a hand full

i tried to stiffen up the front 3 and soften the rear 2 and i spun in the last section of the finish

but in the dry the 24mm 03-up front bar with the addco rear is a good combo. real nice turn-in, and silly quick in lane changes. I just need to loose some weight. i wish i could use a fiberglass rear deck lid and hood in STS.
see ya!

even if you read that in a post, you gotta think, not everyone here has the same spring rates.....
nor the same dampers set on the same spring rates....
each car with differnt equipment will be different....
you can do something bizzare like running 300 front springs on coilovers, and 400 rear spring rates in the rear and get the same effect in a turn as adding a 20+mm sway bar....

FACT.
for a sway bar to function or even be s sway bar it pretty much has to have leverage arms in the equation.

with my setup, running the addco rear and the fe2 front, the car had a tendency to kick the rear out in hard cornering... the addition of poly bushings on the fe2 bar definetely helped the car feel more neutral. i'm still considering picking up the addco front though.
