Tein springs feedback
Saturday, July 02, 2005 2:13 PM
As the title goes.
What can you members tell about Tein springs. I've seen them advertised in H.I.N. but the price they carry is what I like (low ). On that respect, since the price is relatively good, how is their quality?
Also I like the modest drop they offer too.

So what ever info on Tein springs you can give me will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

For the record, I am looking at the H-Techs.
Eddie, are they that lousy? How come?
Between you and "Pushrod," we got a 50/50 mixed feeling going on here lol.

Any more out there?

well what exactly are you looking for, tein is popular in the import world because their coilovers have the edfc, I think thats it, other than that, if your looking at performance handling then its not them, if your just looking for looks with a tolerable ride go for it. I personaly havnt drivin a j with them, but i've drivin IS300's, civics, integras with them, and i dislike the performance that they produced, they looked nice, lowered the car and everything but ride was kinda crappy even with new struts, drove an IS300 with H&R it was 100x better, better for daily driving, smoother ride, and better handling.

imo tein is just popular due to its name. thats it. if your not looking to do solo 2, auto x, track racing, all that good stuff then go for them, but if you want something that for daily driver and can still back up its performance on a track, go h&r, b+g, eibach.

thats my 2 cents take it for its worth.

I attend the occaional autox and I think they are fine Granted Im dropped on yellow i can always ajust the struts around town there are set at softest setting. I rode in a sunfire with agx and h&r springs and thought the ride was awsome over stock but a little too bouncey. he had his struts set on softest all round. but get what you want I would also recomend the eibach as some of my friends have them on their cars and they ride good. so Eddie and I are split except for eibachs

I would recomend you search really quick on teins as alot of recent post on them have been made.

As you can see I am looking for a minimal drop (1.1/0.9) with the H-techs. I want to lower the center-of-gravity and remove some of the fender-gap as well, while not sacrificing ground clearance and still have compliant feel/ride.
As of now I am looking at these springs with the AGX as the combo.

As far as spring rates go, how would you all compare them to the stock springs?

if your looking at that type of drop then i recomend suspension techniques, they are a good spring especially for that drop. they are a pretty penny, but they are a good spring.

So you dont like springs that you have never riddin on. Makes perfect sence.

Anyway. I loved the way my Teins felt. I just had to go back to bags. But now the bags are going for good and I already sold my Teins.

Search for my post in the pic forum to see what the Teins looked like on my car.

I am all that is man

While Eddie's opinion is valid, I find some problems with his statement. He drove cars with TEIN springs... but what dampers did it have? Of course it didn't have the TEIN dampers, did it have upgraded struts at all? If so, what was the setting? Ride comfort and performance can not be attributed to the spring alone. Eibach springs will produce a crappy ride in a car with blown struts, but a great ride with AGXs. That dosn't mean that Eibach springs are bad.

I've been riding on the TEIN Basic coilovers for almost 6 months. I know you're not asking about those, but I can tell you that I don't have the EDFC that Eddie attributed TEIN's fame to. The quality is still superb. Their instructions were good, but could have been better. And their technical support has been good to me so far. They have my support.

With 168F/101R lb/in spring rates, they should ride pretty well. It seems they'd be a great way to get rid of a bit of wheel gap while keeping stock body roll characteristics (if you like that "all hands to starboard" feel).

^^Since I don't know the spring rates on the stock springs. So the ride will be similar to the stock set up? Now will it be a little stiffer the stock?
I am looking to be a little stiffer the stock, as for to control body roll, I am going to rely on stabilizer bars for that.

Thanks guys for the feedback, I am feeling better on purchasing them, since the people that have expiriance are giving good feed back.
Any more is always welcome, bad or good.

I don't know how the springs are for J's but everyone I have met with tein springs was happy with them (several of them autocross frequently).

I'm sure the H-tech setup paired with AGX's would be a good combo. 168/101 will make for a soft ride, but the AGX's (when turned up) can make the ride very firm.

I'm on AGX's and H&R's and there is a night and day difference between the soft and hard settings. You should be able to dial it in to exactly how firm you want it.

^^So these are as soft as our stock springs or a little stiffer?
I am just looking just something a little touch more stiffer, but not spine-breaking stiff ride.
Does anyone have the stock spring rates, to compare?

TY all.

Don't have the rates, but the springs HAVE to be stiffer since they are shorter. I think they would work well for you.

Ok after all this, the reviews have been good Tein, except from Eddie's, which he may well have his reasons.

I will look into buying these in the very near future.
Again thanks!
