i must be blind

i have agx's and stock strut mounts... i installed them with everything that came and ever since theres been a poping. Ive sorta thought it might be an axel or cv joint but tonight i had a friend stand outside the car with the hood up and he suspects the pop or shift comes from up top. he also drove it and said he felt it too. As well as i did. Anyways ive seen people recomend that a washer is used for the install. Im going to give that a try... Wheres a good place to get them, from kyb? from kragen? any washer? And they just go where the nut is correct? not under the mount or anything crazy.

thanks

i tried searching... yadayda... its 4 am, stressing... thanks for any help

How many miles are on your strut mounts?

You only need a washer if the the nut runs out of thread and your strut is loose against the mount.

the mounts have 70,000 miles on them... visually they look snug. But something shifts majorly in what i think is now both mounts. The car moves. Loud pop.

so do i put a washer or do i try tightening it down or what.. if i do try a washer how possible do you think it is to remove that nut and put it back on with it all attached to the car and not screwing up an alignment? go at it like a strut bar install on a flat surface and just dont move anything.

if its a clunking...chances are its your strut mount bouncing into the shell of the car...so basically you need to tighten that top nut, and hell...i would even throw a washer on there for the hell of it....if you want to to put the washer on with the strut still on the car you should be ok to remove that nut from the top with air tools but i wouldnt recommend it...i would recommend taking the whole thing out

either way...try tightening the 3 nuts at the top down as well...if that doesnt work...sounds like you need new mounts to me.
