hey guys. im just wondering how far i should lower my car since iowa roads are really crappy. ive been thinking eibach pro-kit (1.5"), but ive been thinking maybe that would be too low. then i thought suspension techniques (1.2"), but would that even be worth lowering? or do i just not lower it at all? is there any other options in regards to lowering, manufacturer wise? i dont want coilovers, and really dont have the cash to invest in air ride. also, my car is a 95 ls 2 dr, stock bumpers and all that good stuff... but i do plan on kitting it. what do you guys think?

well if you do lower, after market struts are suggested. i say if you cant afford it all right now, wait til you can. pro-kit is a very good kit if you want springs.
a 1" drop is noticiable enough. and why dont you want coilovers?
i do plan on getting tokico d-specs along with the springs. i dont want coilovers because ive heard some bad reviews on them, and i dont want to get the konis with them. id much reather get tokicos. do you think ill be safe if i get pro-kit? im a little uneasy with the roads around here...

We're talking about state built roads right? How bad could they be? You'd have to be running down an extremely uneven road before you really have to worry about scraping. It's mostly when going in and out of driveways and stuff like that, where there's a big bump/jump.
D-Specs and Pro-Kit are a good combo. You should be fine, unless your driveway (or workplace) has one of those nasty driveways and you'll have to drive over it every day.
driveway is one problem im thinking... another is the potholes and cracks in the roads in my town. theres a lot of those. the highways arent too bad though. theres also so assorted speed bumps in some places...

Rule No 1. of driving a lowered car: You have to learn how. You learn to avoid roads with speed bumps. Learn to swerve around pot holes.
Course with just 1.5" drop you shouldn't have to worry very much. With the kit and all you might start rethinking the way you drive a bit.
1.5 is ideal lowering for a jbody, if you lower more than that, its hurting handling, 1.5 puts your a arms paralell to the ground which is best for handling. i have kby agx strutts and h&r springs and im very happy with that setup

you obviously dont live in PA
threee things...
theres nothing wrong with coilovers, however there is something wrong with coilovers that are cheap and are bought by cheap people who think they can get away with it.
struts are pretty much a need when lowering if ride quality is a factor
the FAQ should dispell some of the myths you;ve heard over time.
and a quick 4th.... like said above, 1.5 is around the optimal range of lowering. pro kits are 1.4, h&r are 1.6 and 1.4....
anything more not really needed.
well thanks for the info guys. im probably gonna end up goin with the eibach pro-kit... hopefully very soon
