OEM style hi-perf brake pads/rotors

As we all know OEM brake pads are horrible.

What do you all recommend? I am looking for fade free stops mostly, I don't care if they are noisy. If it can be less dusty it would be a plus but it is not crucial issue.

So far I am looking at EBC's green/red stuff, how are those?

Any recomendations on cross drilled rotors (not slottted) too?

I reccomend Axxis Ultimates. They are dusty and lack a little initial bite, but they stop great once you get some heat in them. I doubt you would ever be able to make them fade, I haven't.

If you going to get some "performance" rotors, slotted is the way to go. Cross drilled ones have a tendancy to crack a lot more than slotted. I really don't feel that slotted rotors are worth the extra change though.

You can pick up the Ultimates and Brembo OEM rotors from NOPI's website for about $100 shipped. Pick up some stainless lines for another $100 from them if you have the money. Change your fluid over to the Valvoline Syntec DOT3/4 than can be had for $5 at any parts store (this will prevent you from boiling your fluid). I don't think you can beat that for around $200.

I do not recommend the EBC greens/ They are dusty, and do not last long. For a semi stock replacement got to Pep Boys and get some Ceramic pads. No dusty at all. have great braking. As for not getting brake fad, you need to get some stainless lines, swap the fluid, and I would recommend some slotted, or cross drilled rotors.

Thank you people for the recomendations. Zach you got something going on there. Are those brembos -crossdrilled, slotted or smooth surfaced?
Hmm mixed response on EBC green stuff.
Any one else on Green stuff pads or Red stuff for that matter?

I am looking at these rotors.
Have you guys heard anything on these rotors or this company?
Have you guys heard of "Hawk" pads? How are those?

I am trying to avoid slotted rotors, for the simple reason slots are design to clean the surface pad when you apply the brakes. The first thing I think when it "cleans" the pads is just eat up the pad's life. So slotted rotors are a no-no for me.

Both cross drilled and slotted will eat your pads up faster. Those brembos are plain faced.

Hawk makes an excellent pad too. If gravana is still running his GP on brakes you may want to consider that as well.

You could try the Hawk HPS (high performance street) Ferro-Carbon (semi-metallic) pads with PowerSlot rotors. I've had that combination for several thousand miles and they perform very well - excellent intial braking power and I've never felt any fade. They are also decently quiet with very minimal dusting, even for being used with slotted rotors. I'd recommend both brands.

I bought a set of these for my g/f's 03 Civic EX she had. If you like brake dust, these are the ones for you. Lots of it, and hard to clean off the wheels. If you let it stay on the wheels, like lazy me, it is even harder to remove. I ended up using a 3M Scotch-Brite™ pad, but one that was a generic one, so it was not even close to being as aggresive as the 3M one.

I dunno if the brake dust was from using the stock rotors, improper break-in, improper installation, or whatever. I ended up replacing those with some OEM Honda ones, and the brake dust decreased ALOT.

My 2¢.
