im almost 90% sure it is suspension related thats why its here
it was raining one day and there was a puddle, little did u know that it was a hole, about 5 inches deep and i hit it pretty hard ( about 35-40mph)
made a clunk noise, like everytime i hit a bump and i didnt think much about it other than OH @!#$ i was not expecting that
now evertime i turn the wheel pretty far it makes just one, "clunk" noise, not a lot of them in a row, just one CLUNK
i looked in the wheel well as best as i could and didnt see anythng out of the ordinary..
its the front drivers side, any ideas?
I Have the same dilema, Im thinking mine could be a strut mount or wheel bearing.
btw, im dropped on goldlines and koni reds
It is probably your strut mount. If it was the CV joint it would make a lot of little pops, instead of just one.
They're cheep enough and if you still running the factory ones then its about due anyway.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Educated Guess: Strut mount has a seized bearing, time to replace the mount.
it makes the noise when i go over bumps too..
where can i get strut mounts?
GMPD?
No GM will charge you an arm and a leg, just get them at Autozone or whatever. Get something like Monroe or comparable brand.
what kind of a feel would uthrane mounts give me?
and where could i pick those up?
I've never seen urethane strut mounts. Any name brand mount will be just fine like stated above. It would make the noise going over bumps too cause it puts extra force on the bearing, and it snaps to whatever new position (the clunk).
your saying a blown/broken one would make the noise, and new ones would correct it, right?
and i just asked cuz my friend told me to get urethrane ones to stiffen my suspension, i had never heard of urethrane ones either..
I kinda have the same problem, took a few bumps rather hard the other day cuz the @!#$ heads are leaving 2-3 inch drops off new pavment onto the old @!#$.
im just gonna replace the strut mounts and see if that fixes it
sounds like exact same problem as what i had and it infact was the strutmount
