what size brakes for the rear
Tuesday, September 06, 2005 6:45 AM
ok i have a 99 cavalier 2200 and called today about my back brakes well he said to try changing them and asked which size. i said i dont know its for the back and he said that theres 2 sizes 15-17. which ones do i need?

and if you dont remember the problem with my brakes were that the driver side back wheel would lock up and squeel the tire. i thought it was tightened to tight so i loosened it. but it still locks up. can anyone help or know what i should do?

It's in the brake FAQ...

On 99+ there are two sizes. You'll have to look at what you got ( I don't know if there's a rhyme or reason to what got which). Your drum will say max size 201mm or 227mm. You may be able to see it through the rim, or just take the wheel off. If you have the 201, then get the 200mm pads (smaller); if you have the 227, then get the 225mm pads (larger).
