Suspension Techniques Springs Question
Tuesday, October 04, 2005 11:36 AM
I have been debating myself over if I want to lower my car or not. My current mods to my 01 Z24 cavalier have been towards making my car faster. I want to keep with that focus but wouldn't mind lowering my car 1-1.3 inchs so my car doesn't look like a 4X4. Besides looks and cornering is there a benefit to a small drop like the one the S-Tech springs would offer. Would this help my 60ft times at the track at all. I already have all of the bushings and good stuff to help with wheel-hop and traction. Only one run to date, 2.49 60ft 15.71 at 89.88 mph. Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks, I agree they make a great spring for somebody that isn't looking for a big drop. My question still remains though, will this help or hurt me when it comes down to traction at the track and on the streets?

It will help (especially if you put adjustable shocks on as well). Normally when you launch your car shifts a lot of weight to the back, but with a stiffer suspension it will not do so as much. This will help you get traction.

It also makes the car a lot more fun to drive off the track.

If you check ebay you can pick up the Tein H-tech's and KYB AGX's for pretty cheap (about $500 total).

Thanks for the suggestions, Its hard for me to justify a modification that's just for looks and will not help my car in the goal in going quicker. The stiffer spring rate should keep the car from shifting as much weight to the back, in return giving me better traction. I am currently shopping on ebay looking for this combo.

Well not only will it keep too much weight from shifting but it will improve your handling by like a million percent, night and day pretty much
