what do u like most about your sunfire or cavalier?
I m not handy im looking for a new car I dont realy like imports and I heard horror stories about the Neon' s transmission The hatch back ford focus kind of looks a giant mouse with round roof and short noise.
im looking to get from point A to point B i figure who else to ask then people who own
besides i feel the media is biased tords the big three thats another reason why im asking Jbody.org memebers
i have an ... well you can see from my sig
... anyway.. i'm really impressed with it. It also being my first domestic... easy mods for it... bolt ons are good... the only thing is that the handling could be better... but whats another $1,500 for a full suspension. i just installed my strut tower bars front and rear.. and i tell you what a difference. IMO the car is great.. just needs better suspention. get that and you'll be laughin
Good luck!
oh yeah... 02 and older.. no 60/40 split
pain in the @$$
my 1999 sunfire (2200/3spd) went 115,000 miles and only needed a battery and an O2 sensor. i had it from new (18 miles) till a bit over 115k miles when i traded it in. its still running around the local area. guy who has it puts like 100 miles a day on it. shes still going strong.

cheap, good on gas, handles decent, and it looks better than a Honda
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
My car has been broken for most of the time i have owned it (since 2001), but i still wouldnt trade it for a toyota or honda. they just dont understand what comfort (and tourque) are.
besides, a J a day beats the Civics away!
i too am on my 3rd cav, my first got t-boned by a jeep....... and im still alive so i tend to think their pretty safe, my 2nd was a 98 2.2 5 speed which was stolen from my parking lot 30 feet from my apartment, now my 3rd has great to me so far............so if you want my opinion i would go cav cuz the new sunfires dont look as good.
I like my 00 cavie it has a 2200 and auto 3spd its way slow but the parts are out there to make it competitively quick. plus the body lines are bold and rounded not square like every other import in the wold.
The break neck speed they come with stock
nothing, the car was given to me.....what a pos it is
I love ethe gas mileage. and its reliable just dont beat the snot out of it like i do to mine and you'll be fine.
Gm sucks if u blow it up
caviefreak: Ya know what I like about winter. Ya can get a bunch of beer out of the fridge and put it in the window sill so ya dont have to make as many trips out to the fridge
I love mine for the great gas milage and the decent power. The handling on these things are awesome too. Scary part is that it's faster than our 140HP 79 mustang 302ci. These are pretty decent cars and I wouldent trade it for any honda rental car.

How true, how true.
1971 camaro 427 --- here!
Stock... and loving every minute of it.
ive always likes the exterior of the cavaliers
and for an economy, they do have a little pep to em
everybody has a f*ckin honda around here. im glad i can smoke half them pr*cks with my 2200 cavalier. plus, i bought a 2002 for 8300 bucks with 27k miles on it. you cant beat that!! its great on insurance, and it treats me great. and ive met a lot of great people on this site as a result, like americonium and sinrocker. both great friends of mine that i have learned a lot from about cars. one of the best things i have done in my life.

this useless post brought to you by the alcoholic known as LUNDiS
i love how freakin die-hard my 2.2 OHV engine is.....although slow i can beat the piss out of it every day and it never gives me any trouble
not to mention w/ my 5spd i clocked myself at 40mpg on all highway driving
the first thing that attracted me to the car was its looks. the 95-99 z in its stock form is one of the nicest looking cars in its class. lower it with some rims and its even hotter.
aside from that, it gets good gas mileage and its easy to work on. when i first got my cav i hadnt even changed oil before. but just last week i helped do a suspension swap on two cars, change the rear axle on my bud's cav and put his engine back together (yeah busy week lol). but i have found these cars to be very easy to work on (with the exception of changing the water pump on a z...now thats just a PITA)
overall i havent had many problems with mine, and the ones i have had were most likely caused by misuse/abuse. im not hard on the car, but when you first start out modding your car you dont always make the best choices (dont remove your fender liners....it tosses all kinds of crap up into your engine bay). any my sister has had two cavs that were over 150+ thousand miles on them....
anyway...those are the good points. there are bad ones too..but IMO there are more good than bad. if there werent then they would have been axed years ago.

I would have to say that its the water pump on my 2.4, best piece of engineering that GM did on an economy car
But seriously, the ride is good, its a compact that actually has some torque, and they look good.

Tell me you're joking....
I used to think it was easy to work on, until my PCV tube got sucked through my intake and down to the top of my piston. I will pull the damned motor before I tear into a job like that again.
I love the stock look of my car. Also it's good on gas, insurance doesn't rape me (anymore) and the fact that when someone thinks "rice" they don't think domestic
Among the winners, there is no room for the weak
I'm kind of indifferent with my car...I mean it has no strong but no entirely weak qualities either....I mean the car looks pretty awesome to me...BUT once a month im on a streak where I want to sell the damn thing after all the trouble it has caused me so far in the past 2 yrs and 24,000 miles later....
I live my Cavy, from its easily dentable trunk lid to its less-than-attractive grey bumpers. Only engine trouble Ive had so far on my little 2.2 (knock on wood) is that my throttle cable snapped. I also think that in the right stance, Cavy's are incredibly beautiful cars. Not the quickest, but not the slowest either. And slammed Cavys arent a dime a dozen like Hondas are.

This is the main reason I bought my car. That and the price was about 3-4 grand less then a similarly equiped import at the time I was buying my car. Would I buy another one...perhaps...only thing I hate about my car is the lack of head room when you have a sunroof...that and is is getting harder to stand out around my town...more and more people are getting Cavy's and Sunfires...
I am sure one day I may move up to something bigger/better...but for now it does what I want it to do....
Get from point A to point B and still look good doing it....
