Well I am currently getting some time to work on my car . I am at this point getting the old exhaust out so the new one can go in .
Well the one question everyone seems to ask is what size exhaust do we have . For a 2200 it is SMALL . I had to cut the down pipe and the pipe going over the rear axle . So I was able to measure the exhaust in two seperate spots .
The down pipe measured an I.D. of 1.50" and the pipe past the cat. conv . and resonator measured 1.75" I.D. .
Not to mention the pipe that was suppose to be 1.75" also had areas that were flattened by the factory .
Would a pipe still flow the same if it had flat areas ?
Does it really matter because the down pipe is even smaller than that ?
Are you feeling cheated after buying the Cat. Back. that was 2.25" just to find out you have a restriction called the DOWNPIPE?
Am I going to fix mine ? ( heck yeah ) . My exhaust manifold opening is 2.5" from there I will be using a reducer to go to 3" . Why 3" ? because I will be installing turbo .
Oh well just thought I would share some of this info on stock pipe sizes . Which for the older 2.2's , 2.4 and the Eco's the down pipe I.D. may be different . But for a 2200 it is TINY SMALL , smaller than small .

I bought my header first and then the cat-back.
I am going o run into the same problems as you, I have a 2200 and the really small down pipe. What have you done to correct this problem. I plan on getting a header that is 2.25" but my down pipe is also really small. The supplied clamp, will not connect the 2.25" header to the 1.5" down pipe.
Also where in the world is a 4-2-1 header for 2200 ohv?
