My dash panel is ripped to hell. I figure I might as well take this opportunity to upgrade the car a bit.
When I had the dash apart, I noted that the HVAC control mounting tabs have the same width as the OEM radio's mounting tabs. I was in a hurry, so I didn't bother trying to place the HVACs in that location.
How different is a 2000 dash from a 1999 apart from the obvious radio/gage/hvac bezel? I would like my stereo above the HVAC controls like the newer cars.
Changing CDs with a soda can in the cupholder is a novel idea whose time has come!
Mods? I have no mods.
the bezel is the only difference

Really, it is? What about the metal reinforcement? And the mounting points for a radio dash kit? They are all the same?
I want my radio above as well but I always thought that it was different because of that.

COOL! How much depth in the higher higher position, same, less, more? The small plastic tab to support the back of the OEM radio doesn't hurt anything when removed.
Ductwork is another story.

The cluster is a different size. That may cause clearance issues, I'm not sure tho... I've never tried using a 2000 dash piece on a 99 dash... or the other way either.
I do know... the 2000+ cluster doesn't fit in the 99 dash/bezel... or vice versa.

95-99 and 00-05 Cavalier Dashs are diffrent, except for the top part and the side panels...

So if I changed bezels, I would have to change the whole dash assembly?
