I have a '99 Z and just noticed the trunk is taking in water somehow. Seems to be on the passenger side behind the quarter panel. Any known place to look for these leaks in these cars?
I noticed that the tailights (outers) don't look to seal the best. Is this a common place for water to enter?

do u have aftermarket tailights? if no, i would check your weatherstripping. its possible that it might not be good anymore? just a guess.

^ my cavy of course.
if might be coming in from where the trunk meets the quater panel. heres what you do. take a dollar bill and put in halfway in the trunk and half out. close the lid so its sticking out between the lid and quater panel. try and move it around, if it moves around easily, thats probably where the water is coming in. to fix it, get a hammer and lightly tap up under the weather striping that lines the trunk. close the lid and try again. keep doing so til the bill is snug in the creese
Check that the boot at the base of the antenna is sealed properly.

in both of my 96 z's the trunk has leaked but it has been under the trunk in the spare tire area were the rubber square peice is both of my cars have leaked water in from there. I just bought some undercoating ruberized stuff to spray the underside of my car so it doesnt rust and I loaded it up under the rubber peice under the metal oval hole that it is supposed to seal hope it works havent noticed yet
mine leak came from the tail lights.

My trunk was leaking for a while and i didnt notice how bad it was until i had 3 inches of water around my spare tire. It was leaking from the seal around the trunk. Sit inside your trunk and have someone shut it for you and look inside and see where u see light at. Thats how i found out.
Gabe has a good idea^ that's how we used to find leaks in trucks and trailers at uhaul
i would ask your friend to look at your car because i hear he's a good mechanic and is good at finding water leaks because he does that for a living just a tought hehe

Yeah but he is focused on this girl that he wants to date so I don't want to bother him at all right now. He needs to hook up with her! No distractions
