i have a 1997 2.2l automatic, and i was wonder which transittion that i have so i can do the 3400 swap.
shifted thanks for the speedy info. plus i been away from the org for a while when did you boost.
Um, Automatic isnt Isuzu, it could be the 4t40e or the 3t40 right?
Heh.... isuzu = 5 speed manual from 95-99.
If your shifter says "PRND21" you have a 3 speed auto, known as a 3T40. If it says "PRND321" then you have a 4 speed auto, known as a 4T40E.
..j
so can that hook to the 3400 or do i need to swap a trans. too
i dont think the 3t40 will work on a 3400, but ive seen the 4t40e on N Body's, and they carry the 3400.
how hard is this 3400 overall how well does it bolt up to the actual car ect?
and does it go to a 5-spd 2000??
The 60* V6's use the same bellhousing/transmission bolt pattern as the 2.2L/2200's.
is the 4T40E pretty decent? cuz thats what i have according to yer explanation.

It's one of the better GM transmissions. Pretty reliable, and can handle gobs of power. I put 85hp of nitrous on my engine and slicks on the track.... still handled it just fine.. (13.8 in the quarter mile, BTW). Never had any problems.
Better gearing than the 3 speed for power... stock out of the box that is. Both can be built up easily enough, with the right amount of $$$.
