my wife has a 01 sunfire gt auto with 40,000 KM

With the car is in gear, and the foot is on the brake (car stopped) once in a while the rpms drop a tad then the car wants to surge forward......sometimes the dash lights dim when it happens
any idea
thanks in advance

What is manifold vacuum? Should be between 18-20psi at idle. If it isnt you most likely have a vacuum leak.

you said manifold vacuum should be between 18 and 20 psi well if it's anything other than that or at some point other than that isn't the car going to just stall out entirely.
