hi boys and girls
as the title says new to 3 g's . ive just picked up a 00 sunfire gt. i have owned a few 2g's and a few 1 g's. still currently own my 1 g. im not totally 3g illiterate but just want to be pointed in the right direction. i am pretty excited to not have to fabricate or dig really deep for "performance" parts. yes ive searched the site. im not looking to go nuts as its going to be a driver, want to go somewhat mild. other than wondering if a lip kit was made for 00 im more interested in power and handling.
i guess im looking for recommendations, good/bad experiences, things to look out for, most reasonable companys, etc. oh its a 5speed just turned a 100,000. its mainly stock. painted drums/ calipers and a magnaflow exhaust. other than that stockness. the motor has not been molested yet. i just love new projects . thanks in advance.

LS Sport lip kit (from GM)
RK Sport has a lip kit
WingsWest has a lip kit (i think)

I've found that on my car, and my taste, that simple stock conversions make it look the best.

Tried the body kit route.... but went back to a stock bumper.

None of those lip kits will work on the GT bumper, they just dont line up. If you were to get rid of your stock GT bumper, look me up, i need another one, and if you want to trade for my stock SE bumper which will work with all those kits.

stenger, all of those lip kits are for the cavalier.

chad, im not aware of any lip kits made for an 00 fire, but i could be wrong. im not very informed on the aftermarket of sunfires. good luck with the car.

Check out my build thread!

ya i figured those where for a cavalier. im somewhat informed.lol. i have never owned a pontiac j body, and was really on the prowl for a z but came across this car and the price was right. i ve searched high and low and come with no lip kits. there must not be any. thanks anyways.
one thing im not super familiar with is the 2.4. are there any maintenance issues. its just turned 100,000mi. was wondering what im in for.

water pump, and oil delivery blows in the high rpms...

i'd recomend getting a Oil cooler (i need to get one myself) and a new water pump/timing belt just incase.

Water pumps seem to start heading bad around 75K miles....

I know I bought my car for 1500 with a newier LD9 installed... Being as the original LD9 in mine had a whole in the block about the size of a half dollar. So i had a motor with less than 60K installed in mine, so that i had more life in it.
