Im going to put a 3.4 out of a 01 grand am into my 01 cav 2.2. what are you guys using for the touque mount? the 3.4 uses the third mount on the rear of the engine that saddles the rack and bolts to the sub frame. I thought of modifying the mount off of the 2.2 to fit the 3.4 block.
Also since both cars, the donor and the cav have the 4 spd auto can i just plug the tranny into the engine harness and go from there with my wiring schematics.
The computer buss system that links the cars computers together, can I just unplug the buss wires from the 2.2 pcm and commect to the 3.4 pcm, therefore only requiring one computer? Of course There are other wires to be dealt with also.
Can I use the fuel pump from the 2.2 since the 3.4 has a pressure regulator on it?

For the upper engine mount, you can use the top mount for the 94-98 Grand AM with 3100. This will drop into the stock J-body upper mount. The lower one had to be created.
The wire harness for the 2.2 will not plug into the one for the 3400. There are some extra wires in the 3400 harness. Such things as, 2 more injectors, 1 more cooling fan, and the 24x sensor inside the crank pulley. Though, being 4 spd automatic, it should run the transmission just fine. I'd be mostly worried about the VTD (Vehicle Theft Deterrant) system. That might get a little fussy with you. The exact ways around this are not known at this point since not many have done a 3400 swap. Other than having it flashed out of the PCM. Which i'm still waiting on to find out.
Yes you can run the 2.2 fuel pump. It's the same as the 2.4 fuel pump. It's also the same fuel pump as the 2nd Gen with V6. Which is way more popular to swap in a 3x00 motor. You'll have no problems with fueling.
there is a way around the theft system, Remote start guys have it done already. When a remote starter is installed the wires to the ignition switch (passlock switch) are cut and read with an Ohm meter with the key in the on pos. the appropriate resistor is connected. Im not sure of which of the three you will use, get ahold of a shop that installs remote starts, they will know for sure.
I know that I cant use the 2.2 harness.

You'll need the remote start bypass for the Donor car of the ECU. Not your cav.
so your saying that I have to install the body computer out of the donor car? How does that work?

Really I dont know what you have to install. I'm not sure if you can get away with just the PCM or not. My car currently runs the ECM from a 91 Cav Z24. Pending the response from Milzy Motorsports, I may or may not be swapping to the PCM for the 99 GAGT and we'll see how it works out.
I will tell you that the modules are independant of each other in my 97. Meaning, that the ABS (if i had it wired for power) is able to run without commands from the PCM. The 97 doesnt have a BCM, it has the Courtesy Center, and that works independant of the PCM. After the doors have shut at night the dome light stays on for it's normal time, then dims itself out after it's set time. How it works in the 00+ I'm not sure.
Like I said, this is still kind of a new thing in the 3rd Gen J-body world. So as far as the combination of what does and doesnt work in all the years of the car, it's still unknown. But with some time and money, we'll find out. Not that i'm gonna go dump a bunch of money into buying a bunch of cav's and do 3400 swaps.
Well I guess if I can wire the gam gt computer to the body module of the cav like the 2.2 is and see what happens. Spaghetti will be flying in my garage!
Ill keep you guys posted of the outcome.
