Hi,
Just bought a 96 sunbird for my wife. Anyways I was trying to fix the horn. But I cant find the thing. I know that the relay is in front of the rad.
But I cant find the horn anywhere in the engine bay. Im thinking that the previous owner removed it. Can someone tell me where the horn is usually located on these cars. And exactly what the relay looks like. I can see that there are 2 relays in the front. Thanks for the help.
Try behind the bumper cover on the passenger side. You gotta get it from the bottom.
there isnt a such thing as a 96 sunbird your sure it isnt a 96 sunfire? if its a 96 sunfire its on the passenger side under the head light

Oh yeah sorry. I meant 96 sunfire.
I tried putting a new horn in. But still it does not work. Also I dont get any kind of clicking noise from inside the car. Any ideas. Think its the relay??????
Is there only one relay in the front of the car or is there any kind of fuse or relay under the dash?
if its not clicking almost positive its the fuse. check your owners manual because some circuits have more than one fuse.

Hmm dont have the owners manual. I did check the fuse panel in the car. Doesnt seem to be a fuse for the horn. Also checked under the hood. Nothing.
IF I am not mistaken, the HORN and the CIG Lighter use the SAME fuse.
Check the fuse once again to MAKE SURE its not blown.
Also, if you can, check your Cig LIghter to make sure its not grounding it self out....
Remove horn, install 12V test light in its place. Does it light up when horn is pressed, if yes bad horn, if no continue reading. Do you have a blown fuse, if yes you have a short to ground, if no continue. If fuse is not blown you need to check the relay, using an ohm meter check the resistance, I dont know the specs of it, but post what you get and I'll tell you if I think its correct.
If the relay is fine, the fuse is fine and the horn still dont work, you have an open circuit. You need to backtrack to find it, 12V at the fuse, if yes the wiring is good up to there and is opened from there to the horn itself.
good luck

All right it ended up just beign the fuse.
Weird how they woudnt mark that on the fuse panel cover. Oh well Thanks alot for the help.
Still if somebody knows exactly where that re-lay is I would like to know if I ever have to change it. I read somewhere on the internet that it was behind the glove compartment. I pretty much took the whole entire dash apart trying to find it and didnt. Could of saved alot of time if the fuses where MARKED CORRECTLY.
I own alot of gm products but this is the first time I see Mickey Mouse wiring like this.
The horn is a secondary item on the circuit..... being the panel is so small its hard to fit everything on it...... Next time use a test light....... makes finding a blown fuse really easy........ plus how often does the horn blow a fuse? like never...... the cig lighter on the other hand, they blow all the time......
