Best way to change 2.2 spark plug wires

I want to change the spark plug wires on my 2.2 sunfire. Whats the best way of going about doing this. I see that there tucked all the way in the back behind all that stuff.

Is it best to do it from underneath the car?? THanks.

You must have a '95-'97, since you said it's all "behind all that stuff." There's a few way to get to the coil packs to change the plug wires, none of them are easy. You can reach down between the intake runners and the firewall, next to the power steering pump, but youve got to have skinny arms to do that. You can go from underneath, but once again you nees skinny arms. You can pull the passenger front tire and the plastic dust sheild behind the tire and reach across the back of the engine to the coil packs, snaking your arm around the end of the tranny and you still need a skinny arm.

My arms are just skinny enough to reach from the top, but any way you go about it you need fairly skinny arms and you need to reach. If you need more room, put a jack under the motor(with a board so you don't bend the pan) and undo the upper motor mount and pull the engine forward, that'll give you another inch or two.

Either way you decide to access the back of the engine, make sure that you do one at a time or else your going to have to get a mirrror to see the coil numbers. The order across the coils is 1 3 4 2, #1 cylinder is the one closest to the belts.

If you've not done it ever, then I would suggest that you do ONE wire at a time, so you dont mix up the firing order. Pull your old wire, match up the length with a new wire, then put on the new wire. Especially if those coils have ever happened to have been replaced, they may not show numbers.

hehe i have a 99 so its all up top go like sho off says 1 wire at a time might also help to label your wires after they are put in to avoid future mistakes (in case you decide to change spark plugs later)

Uhm, they may get a little warm to be having a piece of tape on them for the next 50,000 miles.

best way is jack the car up and use 2 stands , and use 2 people 1 under car , and 1 standing

guy under car undoes 1 wire , and guy up top pulls it out and matches it up and sends it down to guy under

repeat for other 3 plug wires
