I just changed my spark plugs and wires. cleaned out the throttle body. Air filter is good.
The engine moves back and forward alot when idling at 600 RPM. Once its warmed up. I have changed the engine strut. But not the top motor mount. Car runs perfect when driving around has all of its power and doesnt bog or surge.
Can anyone tell me if when they have there car in park and you push on the front of the car how much the motor moves back and fourth if any. Im doing that to mine now and it seems to move around alot in there. Dont know if this is normal for these types fo cars. Its my first one. Im thinking maybe that top motor mount is worn out?????

Also is there only the 2 mounts that I know of that I should be looking at. Or is there anotherone somewhere. so far I know of the 2 on the passenger side.
i have 97 and once when I was messing with my intake my budd sat on bumper and my engine moved I was like wtf was that, my buddy thought he broke something I then continued by pushing on the motor and was like ughh is something broke? but I guess there supposed to be like that mine might be wore too so im not sure. someone tried telling me the uni-bodys can't take the torque these engines put out which isnt a whole heluva lot, and thats why gm made the engines so they had so much play but you can buy mounts and upgrades for these things and I think (could be wrong) guys are pushing out 300+ hp without and frame modifications. Probably would be a wise idea though. but can anyone clarify any of these? I just know what I see, I saw my engine move alot too on a stock setup.

It really shoudnt be shaking around much at all with the engine unloaded. How does the engine react when you go to WOT? Does it fell like you're losing power?

It feels fine when I give her the pedal to the metal. Just seems like there is alot of play in the mounts. I tried pushing a 2000 malibu around and that one moved also but not as much?? But its not the same type of car (3100 v6).
Hopefully someone can push there car around and let us know how much play there is.
About the WOT. I dont have anything to compare to since this is my first 2.2 ohv. Never owned and driving in one of these babys before. NEWB
the stock engine mounts gave me about 3/4" play back and forth, that i could move with my arms. i have an 02 2200, but i i think its the same mounts, maybe not. but stock it had a lot of play. i upgraded to the RK sport mounts and now i cant move the motor at all, but the car vibrates a little more. I kinda like the vibration, makes me feel like i have a lot of hp, which i will soon enough.
ok so I propabl y have a rough idle instead of a worn out motor mount. Still I might change it since its 10 years old. Also sounds like I got a misfire at idle.
Where did you get your sport mount from?
