well my thermostat finally kicked it. i have a 97 cav 2.2l and the problem is i managed to round the head off the lower retaing bolt, and theres no way to get the bolt backed out. any suggestions or anyone have the same problem?
I'm a welder by trade and this is an old trick. It should be possible depending on space available to work.
Have someone weld a new nut on to the old one. If they "Plug weld" it (that means fill in only the hole in the middle, just in case you don't know) This really works for two reasons first strong nut for wrench to grip. Second the heat should help loosen the bolt, if you try to remove it right away. If you go to a welding shop and tell them about your problem this is most likely how they'd handle it.

^^^ I'm not a welder(by trade), but have done that a number of times. It works great!

What is that supposed to be a 10 mm? any way What Ill do before welding a nut on it try to hammer on a slightly smaller socked perferrably a 6 point. Slightly smaller than a 10mm is a 3/8 in you need more go to a 9mm. If its a 13mm which Im not sure what years they switched them, any way on a 13, use a 1/2 if you need more go to a 12mm.

Thanks Joe , I didn't think that one would work because you need room to swing the hammer. As for "easy-outs" well I was allways told if you've got nothing good to say.........Say nothing at all.

Back in black. I see you must be new. We dont take kindly to critics, especially if your not the one that originally is asking for the advice. So if your not Mobius1 then dont judge the advice given in this thread.
Take your own advice buddy.

Thanks Jared, that's is what I meant . I've never had an easy out work, I must be doing something wrong but whatever. There are always other ideas to try.
