Power Loss, Not burning fuel
Sunday, June 25, 2006 10:08 PM
Hi all, I have a querry for you. I am experiencing a loss of bottom end power. The car hesitates on the bottom end and in 5th gear I have very little power at all, along with this I am burning very little fuel. I have no check engine light on which means all sensors should be working properly so I am not too sure on where to start. If someone could maybe point me in a few directions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

any the problem is??? at 3.00 + a gallon i would be greatful.

Seriously though, not sure what it could be. Maybe you have been driving conservativly and the computer has adjusted accordingly. reset the comp.

also the hotter summer air can be taking away from performance. drive the car at night after it cools down and see if there is still a prob.

try turning the air condition off

this robs a lot of power off the engine

it has been hot lately

I'd have the fuel system pressure checked. You could have a pump that's starting to go bad.

First thing I would try though. If you have never, or dont remember the last time that your fuel filter has been changed. Change it, and see if you've got any difference in power.

"The bottom of fifth gear"... do you mean, below the powerband? If so that's why you don't have any power.

Also fuel economy increases and performance decreases as it gets warmer outside.

I was happy when I heard my car ran 10s. Then I found out that was 0-60.

Fuel filter, air filter i'd change both if i didn't know how long they were in there. Good place to start. Maybe a good tuneup next.
