as some of you know im have a 96 sunfire im doing an ecoswap in. I found an ecotec engine from a 2005 sunfire with 20k on it for $550 is this a good deal. thanks
what's all included? just the motor? or the harness, pcm, bcm, trans?
$550 isn't too bad for just the motor though.

if you plan into a transplant of an ecotec, the best thing to do is to buy a complete car! a car hitted in the rear or side should be fine! you need a lot of part to swap an ecotec! I have a 1999 z24 with a 2005 ecotec swap with a turbo setup so i know what i'm talking about!

Part needed to swap a cavalier or sunfire for an ecotec engine
Swap into a 1995-1999 jbody
- Ecotec 2.2 engine from 2002-2005
- Transmission Getrag 5 speed
- shifter and shifter cable
- cardans
- PCM, fuse box, engine wiring harness
- complete interior wiring harness, with air bag module, fuse box
- Brake Master Cylinder
- Clutch Slave cylinder
- Upper engine mount(the new one bolt directly on the car)
- Transmission mount x2 (you will need to cut the older one and weld the new one)
- Exhaust line (you will ned the exhaust manifold of the ecotec, you will be able to keep a part of your exhaust line
- Radiator + hoses
- Cremaillière (dont know how to spell it in english)
- Gas Line (ne necessary but it's a good idea)
- Gas tank (2003 are in plastic)
- Gas pump (ecotec has 60 psi instead of 47)
- Canister
Swap into a 2000 & up jbody
- Ecotec 2.2 engine from 2002-2005
- Transmission Getrag 5 speed
- shifter and shifter cable
- cardans
- PCM, fuse box, engine wiring harness
- Clutch Slave cylinder
- Upper engine mount(the new one bolt directly on the car)
- Transmission mount x2 (only if you have an automatic transmission in your older engine!)
- Exhaust line (you will ned the exhaust manifold of the ecotec, you will be able to keep a part of your exhaust line
- Radiator + hoses
- Cremaillière (dont know how to spell it in english)
a 2000 & up jboby swap is a lot more easy than swapping a 1999 and -

If you want the car to start, you'll have to swap the engine bay harness, PCM, dash harness, BCM, etc.... otherwise the PCM will never get the fuel password to start the car.
Basically, you're going to have to transplant everything from the 00+ cars into your 96. Have fun
I know I did when I did a 99 to 2000 swap.

You do not need the fuse box if it is a 2000+ car.

Well seeing as that is part of the engine bay wiring no reason to list it a second time. Could confuse people.
