well. im in a pickle here. lately when ive been starting my car it sounds as if the ABS is going off. (thats exactly whats happening)but while im driving its fine accept when its really hott out i get an ABS light. it goes away when i restart my car. does anyone know what could be going on??? i just had to replace my fuel pump relay could the ABS problem be a sticky relay??
How can you hear that the abs is off??
You could try replacin the relay, it shouldn't be too hard to replace and then it's something you can rule out.

the relay to replace it even at my cost is 12 bucks. and i dont hear that its off. i hear that its GOING off. like you hear the clunk clunk sounds.
O, ok, got it.
IDK what it could be though.
Show me when you come down.

Does anyone else have any thoughts. maybe Lenko perhaps....???
Theres a TSB on the ABS sensor wires that lead to the drivers side front wheel.
Mine went bad threw a code, I replaced the wire code went away and now the ABS works just fine again.
Check where the wires go into the plug that connects to the wheel speed sensor thets where they pull out of.
Good luck.
Semper Fi SAINT. May you rest in peace.
Is the ABS light staying on after you start the car?? Or only when it's really hot and you're driving?
only when its hot. it hasnt done it in 2 days tho. so im thinking it might be the TSB. ill check it out. but does anyone have any other ideas.
well. it did it again today on my way home from work. im not sure what it is. but if its not that wire could it be the ABS sensor??
It is a problem with ONE of the abs sensors... most likely... the problem is, you can't tell which one until you throw a scanner at it... GM Tech 2 or a Snap-On or something similar... watch the ABS sensors until one screws up and throws the light. Then you at least know where to look.
In the meantime... you could at least inspect the wiring, make sure everything's in good shape and all...

yeah. thats what imma do this weekend when i finally get a day off. im gonna check the wiring and clean out the plugs. if it still doesnt fix it imma get a used sensor out of a junkyard for bothe sides untill i can afford to completely replace them. thanks for the help tho.
Everytime I start my car you can hear the ABS pump run. Finally got it to the dealership on Thursday and they were clueless. After searching through their manuals apparently it is normal and is a "system test."

The pump will click and test when you first start the car. It seems that without the factory ECU present it will do so any time the key is turned to on. It will also do a test (if you listen carefully) and pump itself a bit the first time (and only the first time) the car hits 7mph after starting.
some times my abs kicks in just at small stops and i dont know why its a pain because i think i am going to keep going
I vote for wheel speed sensor. By the way it's $110 or more at dealerships, but only $57.xx plus shipping from gmpartsdirect.com, and very easy to change yourself. Or buy a Fiero instead
