I don't think that I have ever seen a convertable cavalier or sunfire that was a 2003+. Did GM just not make convertable 3rd gens?
yes, there were convertable 3rd gens
and third gen starts from 95
and they ended verts well before 03
and search is you friend

when you beat someone in a civic people wine and make excuses
when you beat someone in a cavalier they pull over and check under thier hoods
3rd gens are from 95-05. i believe that verts on came between 95/96-99.
2000 was the last year and I believe were only available in auto trans.
There were a very small amount of manual trans. verts made. John317 has one but I'm not sure if it's stock or a swap. And the 3rd gen conv. went from 1996-2000 as far as I can tell.

Ack... I hate misinformation
You could get convertible third gens from 95 through 2000. 95-97 cars could be had with a 2.2 OHV, a 2.3L Quad 4 (95 only), and the 2.4L Twin Cam. 98-00 Chevy 'verts were only Z24's with the 2.4L. and it's either 98 or 99 that Sunfire 'verts were all GT's, but I'm not sure which.
95-99, you could get a manual just as easy as an automatic. 00, manual was order-only. I've only seen two, one was Christin aka cloney, the other was mine (swapped though).
All third gen convertibles were built in Lansing, Michigan in the #3 plant. Production numbers are as follows:
1995 1996 1997 1998 1999 2000
Cavalier 901 7,277 9,228 7,093 7,627 4,761
Sunfire 750 5,676 7,935 6,766 5,490 3,599
Total 1,651 12,953 17,163 13,859 13,117 8,360
^ sorry about the spacing, but you get the idea.
Then there's always people like DropTopPaul, who put a stock 03 Sunfire kit on, to make you think there were 03 convertibles
but there weren't
Any questions?

Thanks John, I've always kind of wondered about the whole '95 Vert thing as I've seen them for sale but most of those ads are just typos. And a friend of mine tried to order a 2000 convertible and the dealer said they weren't making them?
Back In Black '89 RS

I would Love a 99 5 speed vert with a 03+ Front end swap.

my friend has a 1998 LS, Im pretty sure thats a 2.2 (yes convertible) And you say that 95-99 manuals were just as common as auto, well i had a really hard time finding one and ended up with auto. Might swap it though.... and theres rarely any on ebay.
There was a 1999 White vert with like 45k miles on it here where i live. They were asking like 4-5g for it if i remember right. It was a manual Z24 as well.

Ok, then it was 99 that chevy 'verts were all Z24's then. Maybe it was 98 for Sunfires? I'm a little sketchy on the exact year, I'll have to find my GM press release stuff I have tucked away somewhere...
I'm getting old... dates start to blend together....
my 98 fire vert was an SE model but had the 2.4
