There is a long standing myth with the J's if the windshield wiper motor gets overheated the wipers will lock up and not operate is the power window motor in the same veign, because mine will stick it will go down and then not go up yet after about a minute it will go part way up and eventually after 2 or 3 times will go all the way up. Any Information would be helpful thanks.
Same deal. You need a new window motor.
Are they really expensive the window motors/regulator whatever it might be, or are there places around that do that kind of stuff dirt cheap.
easy swap, I did mine on Sunday. took a long time due to us never doing it before, but real easy to figure out. Oh and use the bolt in the regulator like everyone says, or it may "bear-trap" on you LOL it did on us.
I've never heard of this long-standing myth...?
Fact is... if the thing ain't working... replace it. That's no myth.
Not a myth on the power window motor no the windshield wiper motor yes, i read somewhere online of some people that got caught in a really heavy rainstorm and had to pull off to the side of the road and stop the car because the windshield wiper motor got overheated and literally the wipers stopped working. I don't know if it was the pre ecotec cavaliers or what but i read somewhere that it did in fact happen, even though i have yet to have it happen to me.
I've never heard that myth....
But.. the 95-97'ish wiper motor that "park" when you shut them off... those are prone to failure. They just plain suck. GM replaces them with the 98+ non-parking wiper motor. You'll notice that the black cowl piece still has the park bumpers though, even on the 05's... though the wipers will never go down that far.
That could possibly have been the ones they were talking about/the ones i was reading about , the article went on to say that the people this happened to nearly had an accident because they couldn't see well enough to get off the road without the wipers am glad it hasn't ever happened to me.
hey do you know if the motor for the 2002 is the same as the 03, 04?
Look it up on www.carparts.com Thats an excellent site if you just want to know what years will work with what you got.
