Differences between 95-99 and 2000+?
Monday, November 13, 2006 11:08 AM
I've seen a lot of 4 door 95-99 Cavaliers in the yard and even a few sunfires, but not many 2000+. I have a 2000 Cavalier 4 door and I need to replace a front and rear door and a fender. Will the 95-99 or a Sunfire door or fender work on my 2000?

The door will work, but the fender will not.

i may be forgetting a few things but heres a list off the top of my head
front and rear bumpers
headlights, tail lights, corner lights.those parts can be used on 95-99 though
all doors on 95-05 j bodies are the same

the interior is different to but im not going to list everything but you can use 95-05 doors and 95-02 cavalier fenders good luck hope that helped

Fenders are all the same, 95-05, 2 door and 4 door (with the exception of a removable bracket on the inside).

since we're already on the subject, the headliners between 2 dr and 4 drs aren't interchangeable are they? the reason i ask is there is a 4 dr at the yard with the map lights in it, and i want it if it will fit.

and is the wheel base the same as well? IE brake and fuel lines the same length etc.

Wheel base is the same, but headliners won't swap.

a 99 fender will work on a 2000 just needs to remove the bracket and he should be fine.

The doors are the same but the fenders are the same on 95-99 but the changed the fenders in 2000 when they changed the headlights right.

The difference, though is not in the fender, its in the bumper. The 2k-2002 have a bigger notch in the bumper to allow for the larger headlight.

The 00-02 fenders have a metal tab in the corner, that a yellow plastic rod on the corner light slides into. If you use a 95-99 fender, with the bracket removed, you won't have this metal tab.
